Notability is now available for the Mac
8/28/2014
Hugh,
I can definitely sympathize with David Hewson, as I've had very limited success/interest in using handwriting on the iPad. My writing isn't great to begin with and it just gets too clunky writi...
Notability is now available for the Mac
8/28/2014
And just a little follow-up: On the web site for Notability, they really play up hand-written notes, and drawings. Notability is good at those things, but it also takes typed text, and does a nice job...
Notability is now available for the Mac
8/28/2014
Notability is an impressive note-taking app for iPad. I noticed that a companion app for Mac was just released today and is available through the App Store. Until now, Notability was restricted to the...

I too have been using Mindscope quite a bit over the past couple of days and agree with Jaslar. I wrote up a little review, which you can read here if you're interested:

Thanks for the notice about this terrific app. Already I'm finding it very useful... It is like a visual version of Brainstorm on Windows.

Online (Cloud) Outliners
8/19/2014
It is interesting how many outlining options there are in the cloud, and yet how sparse the outliners for Windows have been over the years. I wonder why that is. Any thoughts?

NovaMind Subscription

I'm not a fan of software subscriptions, especially ones where you can no longer use the app if you stop paying.
If there's any genuine reason that the subscription model is better for the customer ...
New discovery for Mac

Looks like an interesting app. One missing feature seems to be hoisting, but that isn't a deal breaker given some of the other nice features. At $19, it's a little pricey to pick up on spec. Have you ...
Change in hardware/change in software?

Thanks, Doc. I live in a rural area, where wifi accessibility is still hit or miss in a lot of towns, so I am always concerned about being able to save files locally.

I'm curious about how useful the Chromebook can be when you don't have an Internet connection. What still works, what doesn't? I gather from the comments that none of your files are available to work ...
Zoot can do this to some extent. You type the label and the delimiter (usually ":") into the text and then you can use that as a column heading in the grid. So it would just look like this in the text...

I've never had any trouble with the Plex relating to notes, but that's because I never put a lot of information into a notes field. I don't think TheBrain is intended for that use... i.e. using the no...

Last I was aware, the Windows version is still in Beta... is that still the case?

My guess is he's supposed to use his blog to promote his books, but he is a CRIMPer at heart and can't resist trying out and then writing about all the cool tools available.

I've found David Hewson's blog to often contain interesting and insightful views on writing and note taking. His most recent posting compares several note taking apps, and I thought this might be of i...

It used to have that feature, but the developer removed it about a year ago, as it was making the app too sluggish, apparently. It was a nice feature that even included automatic keyword linking in th...

Curio 9 Released

If and when George can work out full integration with Evernote, that would go a long way. Right now Curio can import an Evernote note, but edits in Curio do not flow back to Evernote.
Since NoteSuite...
