Give Obsidian a try. Or you could try Notebooks, which gives you a choice of three document types when you create a new one: - Formatted (which is HTML) - Markdown - Plain text
Craft – the new macOS/iOS sensation 1/12/2021
Nice! I didn't know about this feature.
Craft – the new macOS/iOS sensation 1/12/2021
Hi, Bill, Thanks for starting this Craft thread. If anyone is interested, I wrote a superficial review of Craft and posted it as a Craft document online: https://www.craft.do/s/3dyJhymyZVrE14 I've ...
Happy New Year 1/1/2021
Well said, Prion. Happy New Year to all.
Ora.pm - Am I missing something? 12/30/2020
You might want to look at ClickUp. It is full-featured project and task manager that can display your project as a Kan Ban board or in a calendar. And it even lets you delete tasks.
SheetPlanner 2.0 Release & Feature List 12/29/2020
Wow! An impressive list of improvements. Congratulations.
SheetPlanner 2.0 Launch 12/29/2020
Looking forward to getting my mitts on Sheetplanner 2.
Dynalist Pro 50% off promotion 12/29/2020
OmniOutliner was one of the first apps I bought when I switched to Mac over a decade ago. I almost never use it. It feels more like an app I would use to create nice looking documents to impress my co...
The Benefit of Nested Tags 12/23/2020
Just FYI for those who want a note manager that has BOTH nested folders and nested tags, take a look at Notejoy. https://notejoy.com Like Bear, it provides instant rendering of markdown. It now work...
Interview with CEO of omnigroup 12/22/2020
Thanks for the link. Fun interview.
MindNode adds outlining to mind maps 12/20/2020
I have been using Mindomo for mind mapping. It allows you to switch between outline and map views, sort of in the way Inspiration lets you. The outline looks very similar to Workflowy though without a...
The Benefit of Nested Tags 12/18/2020
Also regarding NotePlan, Eduard has asserted that he is working on providing a browser version, which would be great for me, since I spend my work days in Windows. The subscription is a little steep,...
The end of the Taking Note blog 12/8/2020
I reached out to Manfred to let him know that many people on this forum have lamented the loss of Taking Note. He wrote back and told me that his wife has Alzheimer's and with the pandemic he is her o...
Evernote reinventing itself 10/8/2020
Hugh, I think the only way to get Evernote 10 is through the Mac App Store. You'll find it there. Hugh wrote: > >Robert Luke wrote: >Welp, I just backed up all my Evernote notes by importing them i...
Collegiality 6/16/2019
I have always found the collegiality of this forum a refreshing change from much of the rest of the web. I am saddened to see a number of commenters injecting the contentiousness of social media into ...
Interesting Ulysses competitor – subscription-free 6/15/2019
The guy who created PageFour calls his company Bad Wolf and his name is Darren. He created Atomic Scribbler after Page Four, and now calls it SmartEdit Writer. It is free, but for Windows. I highly do...
"Hook" app links related documents together 6/13/2019
Nathan, I did try Todoist before settling on TickTick. I originally chose Todoist because it allows you to nest lists and TickTick only gives one level of folder structure. But I found that I didn't ...
"Hook" app links related documents together 6/13/2019
Great question, Paul. At the risk of being boring, however, I'd have to also say Dynalist. If pressed for a different choice, maybe TickTick... although I didn't actually CRIMP that app, as I chose i...
Multiple machines, multiple OSs, narrowing apps? 6/12/2019
I spend my work days in Windows 7 and the rest of my computing time on my MacBook or iOS devices. I use Dynalist, TickTick and -- to a lesser extent -- Evernote on all my devices. I used to rely heavi...
Forced Upgrades 6/11/2019
I remember the problem. UpNote is for Windows 10 only and won't work on my Windows 7 machine. So it may be a viable option for other Windows users. Stephen Zeoli wrote: Bill, > >Actually, there is a ...
Forced Upgrades 6/11/2019
Bill, Actually, there is a Windows version: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/upnote/9mv7690m8f5n?activetab=pivot:overviewtab I tried it out a while ago and found something I didn't like, but can't...
Forced Upgrades 6/10/2019
Hi, Franz, When I wrote about higher priced software, I was speaking hypothetically... speculating that it might bother me. Sorry for the confusion! Steve Z Franz Grieser wrote: Stephen Zeoli wrote...
Forced Upgrades 6/10/2019
Hi, Simon, I understand your point, but for me it depends on the price of the app to begin with. If the app is cheap (under $20), I am less inclined to feel a lot of pressure. (I wonder that the low-...
Noteplan 2.0 is here, on time 6/1/2019
So some further testing shows something I should have realized earlier: Changing due dates copies the task to a new calendar date, but any edits you make to one version are not reflected in any of the...
