xTiles will launch on Product Hunt
9/9/2022
I subscribed to xTiles because I want to support this Ukrainian operation and because I think the app has a lot of potential as a digital notebook, though as Andrey acknowledged there is still much wo...
Flowdex
9/8/2022
I just learned about a new app called Flowedex. It needs more features to be fully useful, but its approach intrigues me. Basically you create note "flows" based on a topic. So you can create a flow f...
Capacities: a new mega PKIM App
9/8/2022
The problem I have with great new apps like Capacities is that they have features I covet, but they also lack features I need (because they are still being developed). By the time those features are i...
I just got a notification from Craft that their Windows version is now available. I am excited by this news, because I live in a dual Mac/Windows world, but I haven't tried the Windows version yet -- ...
Microsoft OneNote Changes
9/2/2022
I use OneNote 2016, but have tried to avoid it because I hate OneNote for Windows 10 and felt that was the direction Microsoft was going. This video is indeed very reassuring. Thank you for directing ...
Another option is a new app called Routine, which combines task tracking and notes. It is free (for now)
https://www.routine.co/
It obviously doesn't have the track record of Amplenote, so there is ...
Mem
8/24/2022
Sadly, no. I keep wanting to like Mem, but it doesn't stick (of course, what does with me?). For an app of its kind, I find the editor isn't quite up to snuff. Craft (even the browser version) has a f...
Yes, check out Hyperplan. But also consider Scrintal or Heptabase. Where Walling and xTiles are more structured as to how your blocks (tiles or cards) are shown on the page, Heptabase and Scrintal are...
words at war, tracking correspondence
8/22/2022
I am not sure exactly how Aeon works, so can't say that what I'm thinking is better, but either Heptabase or Scrintal could show a trail of correspondence, with each tile (or card) holding one piece o...
TheBrain announces version 13
8/19/2022
To the best of my knowledge, the Mac and Windows are very close in features. A few keystroke shortcuts are different. And I believe there is a difference in the handling of emails.

TheBrain announces version 13
8/19/2022
For fans of TheBrain, a new version is on the horizon:
https://www.thebrain.com/products/thebrain/thebrain13
None of the new features are game changers, but they are a nice evolution.
If history i...
The Function Beyond
8/1/2022
This entire thread is dispensable.
Scrintal
8/1/2022
That's fair as far as it goes. It is really like just the Tinderbox Map view, without the other views, such as outline. But the notes area for each of the cards in Scrintal is a superior (in my view) ...
I admire the fact that this is a free upgrade for users of version 2 (Mac app). Old school!
Broader musings
7/22/2022
That's a very interesting observation. Steven Johnson in his book Where Good Ideas Come From says ideas come from networks. Here's a quote from his Ted talk:
"We take ideas from other people, people ...
Craft 2.0 - For Everyone!
7/17/2022
FYI, Numeric Citizen just launched the Craft Bible web resource (built with Craft):
https://www.craft.do/s/vgvQKijqkbyo6q
It is filled with information about Craft as well as being a good use case.

Craft 2.0 - For Everyone!
7/17/2022
I would concur with everything Bill wrote.
If you've already paid for Craft, give it a go. You can get your information out of it if you decide you don't find it as useful in your MA as you hoped.

CRIMPing in multiple axes
7/13/2022
I am not sure if this is in line with what you're looking for, but a system I am toying with (haven't decided for sure if it works) is creating a master note of links to projects and important notes I...
Clover looks interesting
7/6/2022
If you think Clover is a good choice, I have no desire to dissuade you. I will say that if you're still looking for an app that does a lot of what Clover does, I would also look at Organizedly:
https...
Clover looks interesting
7/6/2022
I didn't continue using Clover, but to be honest I don't recall exactly why. One possible reason is the price is a little steep compared to other options... though it wouldn't be if I thought Clover t...
Craft 2.0 - For Everyone!
7/5/2022
The problem with the website is that they are emphasizing the presentation of pages created in Craft, rather than focusing on what I see as Craft's main advantage: It is like a word processor with Roa...
Heptabase
6/29/2022
Heptabase is improving in leaps and bounds.
They just transitioned the Timeline view to the Journal view, a familiar daily notes-style view. And you can now nest boards within boards (still a beta fe...
Apps for Scratchpads
6/24/2022
Have you looked at Tab Notes? I think it meets all your requirements... I don't use it, but I remembered it when reading your post.

Always a great opportunity to get terrific software... unfortunately for me, I already own many of those!
