iPad Mini and outlining
11/7/2012
Looking for a "notebook" style app to do what I was hoping Notebooks would do, I tried ProjectBook and a couple of other notebooks. These seem like good applications, but they weren't clicking for me,...
which solution do you suggest?
11/7/2012
That's a tall order.
If you're working on a PC, I think the only thing that comes close (and nothing, I'm aware of will do all you want) is OneNote. If you're working on a Mac, try Curio.

Seems like there are a few funky things going on with the forum. In the topic "iPad Mini and Outling" it shows on the Topics page that Franz was the latest poster on November 5, but if you go to the e...
iPad Mini and outlining
11/5/2012
For the first time in my life, I bought a new Apple gadget as soon as it went on sale. Some how I feel a little ashamed of this, but I'll get over it. Anyway, my iPad Mini arrived on Friday (actually,...
In a standard wiki (if such a thing exists), hyperlinks would be the number one means of providing structure to and navigating among your notes. In ConnectedText, however, there are so many other way...
I've finally gotten my review of ConnectedText as an outliner posted. Since it has been so long since I was writing the other reviews, I decided against using the same format for this review, as I've ...
FoldingText for Mac out
10/22/2012
Another issue with this early version of Folding Text is the very limited export options. Basically (unless I'm missing something), you can export to HTML or... that's it. You can also cut and paste t...
My experiment: InfoQube on HP Slate 2
10/19/2012
I'm not trying to make a sales pitch for Zoot. The program is terrific, but it has its failings, chief among these right now is that it still has no Help File for the new version. Also, the interface ...
My experiment: InfoQube on HP Slate 2
10/19/2012
Airways,
I remember Stone Notes... if I recall properly it was a nice little program.
I don't use InfoQube, but I've been generally impressed by Pierre's ambition for the program.
If you decide IQ ...
FoldingText for Mac out
10/17/2012
I bought my copy yesterday and I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed so far with limited use.
First of all, there's not much that Folding Text can do that you can't already do with TaskPaper and ...
Curio 8
10/13/2012
There are some quirks that take getting used to, but it is really a quite remarkable, versatile notebook application. And that's "notebook" almost in the old sense of the word: a place to keep notes a...
Curio 8

This is a nice update, mostly an interface improvement, but lots of nice new features too. I'm working on a review for Mac Appstorm, which will probably be posted in about three weeks.

Interesting case. If you were on a Mac, I'd say Tinderbox would handle this pretty easily. Do you use Scrivener for Windows? If so, you might find the Binder vs. Collections views useful for this exer...
Noteliner 3.5 now available

Just a heads up to Noteliner users that Sam has posted the latest version:

Looks like some nice improvements.

FoldingText

Yes, this does look interesting. Not sure from your comment, Hugh, if you're aware that FoldingText IS the work of the guy who developed TaskPaper.
Info Select UI vs. The Window Tree
10/6/2012
Razorboy,
If I understand what you're saying correctly, I agree with you. I have appreciated the main interface of InfoSelect... it's just the rest of the program that needs work. IS could get away w...
cintanotes 1.8 is out

I'd be interested in learning how you use CintaNotes. Is it your quick in box for notes before you transfer to a more robust information manager, or do you use it for all your notes -- or something in...
Outliner/PIM roll call: Fall 2012
9/25/2012
Sorry to be a little late to the conversation. I was on vacation the last two weeks, and while I was reading the forum, I just couldn't bring myself to write a long (winded) response.
My honor roll o...
To answer your question, it would help to know what your primary purpose is. If you're storing clippings and documents from other sources, my feeling is that you're better off with Zoot or UltraRecall...
I don't have heavy use of contact management on my iPod Touch, but I have found that Pocket Informant is very nice. It may be more app than you need, as it also combines task management and note takin...
Outliner/PIM roll call: Fall 2012
9/19/2012
I just want to add one note about ConnectedText in case some folks are reading this thread and getting their first introduction to the application. CT is a really terrific plain text note box. That is...
Cataloguing the Different Ways the Mind Associates Itself with the Outliner Presented Screen

If you want to read some well-written, thoughtful articles about outliners, then I suggest searching up Ted Goranson's series called "About This Particular Outliner," which was published in the now de...

This forum has done just fine over the years. I've learned so many things from the smart, generous people who share their knowledge and enthusiasm for this branch of software. We even have an amazing ...
Congratulations, Cassius. My wife and I got married four years ago today, so you have us beat by a little. (I'm a late marriage bloomer.)
