12/17/2011
Hello,
I just noticed that Flying Logic, which has been discussed on this forum in the past, is on sale for $99 (usually $249) at MacZOT:

I would suggest taking a look at InfoQube if you haven't. It does import OPML. While I couldn't find an export option, I find it hard to believe it can't be done, because Pierre has added so many thou...
WhizFolders vs Scrivener for Windows
12/7/2011
Scrivener for Windows has what is *almost* a hoist. Select a sub folder or sub note, choose outline view and you will see just that note's sub notes in the outline view. The same works for the cork bo...
@Lucas, just for the record, Curio has a fairly powerful meta data scheme, especially for an application like this. You can assign tags, flags, start and due dates and even resources to any individual...
@Lucas - I'm curious about your set up. Since you use Tinderbox, you have to be using a Mac. Do you use OneNote with VMWare Fusion or Parallels, or do you use different machines? Also, have you taken ...

There may be good reasons to allow only folders to have children in some applications, but any application that does so is definitely NOT an outliner. I personally prefer being able to make notes with...
WhizFolders vs Scrivener for Windows

That's nice of you to say, Jon.
I should have mentioned at least one advantage Whizfolders has over Scrivener (for Windows), is a longer history, and a developer who have demonstrated their commitmen...
WhizFolders vs Scrivener for Windows

Jon,
I'm more familiar with Scrivener than with Whizfolders, although I have a license for both and have used both, so I hope my thoughts will prove helpful.
I would choose Scrivener over Whizfolde...

I bought a copy a month or so ago when I also found it for half price. Then my PC crashed and I needed to reinstall the software. The link provided for downloading a licensed copy was supposed to stay...
The original poster is asking about something that is hard to find in modern "outlining" applications, and even harder to find on Macs. Most Mac applications of this sort (DevonThink, Together) rely o...
This may be a bit of an unconventional answer, but I think you should take a look at Twig, the little-brother version of Tinderbox. Using the explorer view, you should be able to do what you're descri...
Anyone know what happened with IdeaMason
11/16/2011
I haven't used it in a long time,* so my referencing IdeaMason should not be taken as an endorsement. However, I thought it was a pretty powerful tool that felt a bit clunky -- that was five or more y...
So, just in case you didn't read my other topic about IdeaMason, I'd suggest that if you're looking for an inexpensive, all-in-one tool for this task that you try IdeaMason:

Anyone know what happened with IdeaMason

Hi,
I was going to suggest that Carrot check out IdeaMason in his search for an academic writing solution, but decided to check in with the developer first. Seems the IdeaMason web site is no longer ...
I haven't used Storybook, but have looked it over at its web site. It seems a pretty formidable application for writing fiction. But that's exactly how it differs from Scrivener, which has a lot more ...
Zoot also has a global search capability. (The old Zoot was one of the first applications that I'm aware of that also had offered a search of your entire computer through its function called Agent X, ...

You may not be surprised to learn that own a license to Process. I believe it came with a bundle of apps I purchased at one point. I don't use it much, because... well I already have too many such app...
The new version (out on the 24th) seems to have added this ability.

Alexander,
I think many of the collaboration features are available in the 2007 version of OneNote, if your team has that version.

Have you looked into OneNote, Alexander? It's set up for direct collaboration, though I've never used it that way.

Hi, Alexander,
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but there was recently an article on the NY Times web site about using Dropbox for collaboration:

Vince,
Not to change the subject, but how do you like ActionOutline? I've always found its clean interface very appealing, but for whatever reason have not used it. It does not appear to have had muc...
