That's too broad a question. Both are nice applications, and which one is "better" is dependent on your own needs and sensibilities. Ultrarecall i...
OutWiker 1.7

I tried intalling the program and Norton AntiVirus returned a "not safe" result, and removed the install file from my computer. Probably a false positive, but just wanted to put that out there.

I think I answered my own question -- although I have not tested this. But according to the web site it seems you have to download and install the myBase Viewer, to get this functionality.

Thanks for pointing this out. myBase was one of the first such programs I used when I was trying to find a replacement for ECCO Pro back in the late '90s. It used to have the ability to create a run ...

Black Hole Organizer?

Yes, this is one of the grand daddy info managers. In its early days, it was innovative. Now it is pretty unremarkable, but I would think very stable and reliable. It used to have a little gizmo that ...
New version of Right Note

Just noticed that there is a new version of Right Note, which adds hoisting, among a few other features.

TreeProjects updated to 2.7

I sent an e-mail yesterday requesting an extension for the trial version, and I got the bounce back notice too. I hope this can be resolved, because I'm eager to give TreeProject another try.

I'm almost certain that you can set up a G-Mail account that you can sync with Zoot. I've never done this, so I'm not sure how well it works, but I don't recall complaints on the Zoot forum about it.

My Curio 8 review... finally

My Curio 8 review... finally
11/14/2012
It took a little while for me to pull it all together, but my Curio 8 review is now posted to Mac Appstorm. If you are interested, you can find it here:

You can sort of do this in Zoot, but I think you're restricted to putting your fields at the start of the line, like this:
Distance: 3
The data would appear in the columns of the grid, if you have s...

A note this morning to the developer of iThoughts regarding hoisting on nodes brought a quick response that it is on the list of things to do. Good news.

iPad Mini and outlining
11/9/2012
Hi, Julie,
Glad I could recommend iThoughts. The only thing it lacks (that I've uncovered so far) is the ability to drill down to show just one node and its sub nodes.
I'm glad to see on its roadmap...

I just want to correct something I wrote about Cotton that was wrong. I said that when I tried to send a document from Dropbox to Cotton, it didn't work. Actually it did. I was expecting to see the do...

Ken,
I have the Awesome Notes app on my iPod Touch. It's a nice application, but it is a bit of hybrid with a lot of task management and calendar features, which is redundant to PocketInformant, whic...
iPad Mini and outlining

Hugh,
Yes, I do find the screen large enough for the types of tasks I'm trying to do. The smaller form seems to me to be better in for mobile note-taking than the regular sized iPad (which I've never...

Looking for a "notebook" style app to do what I was hoping Notebooks would do, I tried ProjectBook and a couple of other notebooks. These seem like good applications, but they weren't clicking for me,...
which solution do you suggest?

That's a tall order.
If you're working on a PC, I think the only thing that comes close (and nothing, I'm aware of will do all you want) is OneNote. If you're working on a Mac, try Curio.

iPad Mini and outlining

For the first time in my life, I bought a new Apple gadget as soon as it went on sale. Some how I feel a little ashamed of this, but I'll get over it. Anyway, my iPad Mini arrived on Friday (actually,...

I'm not trying to make a sales pitch for Zoot. The program is terrific, but it has its failings, chief among these right now is that it still has no Help File for the new version. Also, the interface ...
