It's posts like this that make me wish this forum had a "like" button.

If I did, I would probably not have enough fingers left on my hands to type this.

TaskPaper iOS apps

Taskmator is the one that seems to receive regular updates, so I'd use that one. As background, both those apps are forks from the iOS version of TaskPaper that Jesse Grosjean abandoned several years ...
best outliner you use? (2018)
4/7/2018
Thanks for the comments, Jaslar. Speaking of appreciation, I appreciate your reference to Pellucidar!
best outliner you use? (2018)
4/7/2018
On the other hand, I still think the best outliner remains Tinderbox. I wrote about the reasons here:

best outliner you use? (2018)

The outliner I use daily is Dynalist, but I wouldn't necessarily say it is overall the best outliner. It's just that it has features that work for me:
- quick and easy entry and structuring of inform...
I am still not sure I quite understand your question about "centering the text on the screen." But if you mean can you go full screen and not have the text jammed up against the left edge, yes.
Also,...
If you're talking about typewriter mode when you say center text on page, then I'd suggest that Write satisfies your requirements. It is available for Windows and MacOS. Here's the website link:

Oops. I see that xtabber already mentioned this. Sorry for the duplication.

This isn't an endorsement, but I wanted to notify anyone with an inclination to buy Atomic Scribbler that today only it is available for $7 on Bits du Jour:

Hi, Paul,
I am wondering why you aren't considering The Archive? Is it that you need an iOS version or something else?

Aquaminds Notetaker
3/29/2018
It is difficult to have patience with developers promising release dates, but Aquaminds did just publish an update on their progress two days ago:
"We are now testing Version 26 and we've fixed more ...
Outline came out before there was a OneNote for Mac, with the pitch that it could open and edit ON files. They have managed to keep it going even after ON arrived on the platform, because Outline has ...

Making lists from URLs
3/17/2018
It may not be an obvious choice, and might be more expensive a solution than you want, but I think TheBrain could handle this. You can drag URLs directly into the Plex and categorize them in a number ...
Unorthodox/clever software usage?
3/12/2018
I agree with Bill. All the various developers who contribute to this forum do so with sensitivity to overly promoting their products. Their insights add immensely to the forum and I hope we never disc...
I feel your pain, Dave. I still have my Psion unit. If I had the software for uploading from it to a PC still I would resurrect it myself. It's a great device. I never had Mind Tools though. Sorry.

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but worth noting is Super Note Card, which used to be a native app for Mac and Windows, but is now web-based:

TheBrain 9 is out of beta
3/1/2018
Graham,
For what it is worth, here are the main things I like about version 9:
- Much, much faster syncing to the cloud, and more reliable. (By itself, this would be enough for me to recommend versi...
TheBrain 9 is out of beta
2/28/2018
Thanks for the notice, Paul.
The one feature that I really miss in TheBrain 9 that was in version 8 is the ability (working in Windows) to drag an email out of Outlook and onto the Plex. That was so...
Versatil Markdown
2/25/2018
There are some missing features with Versatil Markdown that probably make it a non-starter for many. Chief among these is the lack of any search function across documents. There is, of course, a find ...
Versatil Markdown
2/24/2018
In my seemingly endless quest to find a replacement note-taking app to replace Ulysses, I thought I had tried them all. But I just stumbled on an app called Versatil Markdown, which seems to dovetail ...
MindNode / Things integration
2/21/2018
I saw that too, Paul. It is a really great integration. What interests me is that the Things developers are inviting other app developers to do the same kind of integration. They said that the iOS app...
Agenda
2/18/2018
This is an entirely subjective comment about Agenda, but I find myself continually drawn to using it. That is, it has such an appealing interface, I frequently open it and start making notes and plans...
