Quiver for iOS is available, sort of...
6/21/2017
When I noticed today that Quiver for iOS was just released, I had a moment of excitement. Then I realized the app is just a reader for your Quiver files. You can't edit them yet on the iPad. Still, th...
Scapple is a nifty app for simple diagramming and is available for Windows.

Mindscope 1.5 is now available
6/20/2017
Mindscope is a great app for iPad that's a combination of outliner and mind map. It hadn't been updated for a while, but now there is a new version out and it looks like a significant upgrade. Here's ...
NotePlan iOS
6/17/2017
Thanks for the link to Bret's review. I learned a few things I didn't know about NotePlan.
I have been using NotePlan the past couple of weeks and am really enjoying it. To me it makes sense as a di...
Not totally outliner-focused, but nifty
6/10/2017
Thanks, Franz. That makes sense.

Thank you for the clarification, Paul!

I don't understand much about disk mounting, but it seems to me that one of the drawbacks of using a service like CloudMounter would be that your, say, Dropbox files would not be available to you from...
Outlinely now has zooming on iOS
5/28/2017
That's a nice feature. Outlinely is improving rapidly.
Thanks!

Bill mentioned the following in the Things 3 thread:

Things 3 is released
5/18/2017
That is nifty looking. I was toying with getting Things a couple of months ago. This might just clinch it. BTW, it is $39.99 on the App Store here in the US.

It's alive! Caboodle turns 2.0
5/17/2017
When I switched back to the Mac platform around 2008, one of the note managers I tried was called Caboodle. If memory serves me right, it was a reasonably good app, but didn't really fill my needs -- ...
Is anyone using NoteCard 2 or its brother app TaskCard 2? These look like interesting sticky type notes with a lot more power than just stickies.

Just what is an outliner?

Pierre,
Thank you for sensibly pointing us to a definition of outliner.

Just what is an outliner?
5/5/2017
Paul, I request that you read my response to you again. I think you'll find I didn't feel "torqued" at all. I was just trying to react to some of the things you wrote, which is the point of a discussi...

Just what is an outliner?
5/5/2017
Luhmann rightly didn't want his topic on a list of dedicated outliners (DO) hijacked into another discussion, so I've started it here. If you search the archive, you may find that I've brought this to...
Interesting project. It's kind of sad how few outliners there are that meet your criteria. I added Carbonfin Outliner to the list.
Your project also demonstrates the utility of Dynalist, which I appr...
CintaNotes
4/28/2017
I like CintaNotes. If there were versions for MacOS and iOS, it may very well be my note manager of preference. But its reliance on SimpleNote to keep and view notes on those other platforms is makes ...
Click on the first menu item on the left, "Collate." Under there is an option called "Import." You have options to import from Evernote Archive, Text Files or Markdown Files. Developer calls it a tuto...
Collate still has a bunch of rough edges. The Mac version has some definite bugs -- the open note in editor function does not work properly, for example. But it is intriguing for an app that still has...
BTW, Collate wants to take advantage of dissatisfaction with Evernote. It has an Evernote importer and a built in tutorial about how to do it. I haven't tried this, myself.
Some of you may already have seen the preview of Collate through Lifehacker, if not some other source. But if you haven't this notes app may be worth taking a look at. It runs on Windows, Mac or Linux...
Demise of NoteMap
4/12/2017
Come to think of it, the company representative I referred to used to contribute to this forum back when it was hosted by Dave Winer. For kicks, I searched the old text archive and found a few of his ...
Demise of NoteMap
4/12/2017
I am sorry to hear this as well, though certainly not surprised. I had a lot of hope that NoteMap would evolve into a reasonable GrandView replacement. I had even had contact with one of the people wh...
Omni Outliner 5 is set to launch
4/7/2017
It would be nice if you could switch to "Essentials" mode from the Pro version, for those times you don't need all the bells and whistles. Can't be that hard to implement, since the Essentials and the...
