Notebooks 12 for iOS and 3 for macOS on the way 4/26/2022
That Alfons hasn't completely given up on the Windows version is good news. Thanks, Franz. Steve
Notebooks 12 for iOS and 3 for macOS on the way 4/25/2022
I agree. I have the Windows version, but it is a pale imitation of the Mac and iOS versions. Franz Grieser wrote: Good news. Though I'd wish he'd not only add features to the MacOS and >iOS versions...
Notebooks 12 for iOS and 3 for macOS on the way 4/23/2022
That is good news. In the recent thread about Ulysses, I almost mentioned Notebooks as an option, but decided not to because it seemed that not much was happening in development. I am happy to learn t...
Ulysses' Companions' Odyssey (provisional app review) 4/20/2022
Well, that is better than nothing, but in Ulysses, you can edit any of the sheets in the editor. This is very helpful when you are putting the final touches on your work and you need to smooth the tra...
Ulysses' Companions' Odyssey (provisional app review) 4/20/2022
By concatenating I mean that you can select multiple sheets in Ulysses and view them as if they are one document in the editor. I don't think you can do this in Inspire Writer.
Heptabase 4/20/2022
Heptabase vs. Scrintal I onboarded with Scrintal a couple of weeks ago. Scrintal and Heptabase are very similar in that they allow you to be whiteboards of documents. I think Heptabase is a little fu...
Ulysses' Companions' Odyssey (provisional app review) 4/20/2022
The Ulysses/Inspire Writer comparison is instructive in illuminating the differences between the Apple and Windows environments. I just checked out Inspire Writer and it seems like a very capable mar...
Ulysses' Companions' Odyssey (provisional app review) 4/19/2022
I second the motion. MadaboutDana wrote: My dear chap, you've just written rather a lot of judgemental stuff >based entirely on your assumptions of how Ulysses works. > >If I may say so, that's quite...
New app, Bike 4/17/2022
I think you left WriteRoom off this list. It is still for sale through the Mac App Store, but hasn't been updated in 9 years. MacSE wrote: Ah! Jesse Grosjean does it again... The guy who created and ...
New app, Bike 4/17/2022
Anyone who wants a Mac-based single-pane outliner should look at OutlineEdit: https://www.outlinersoftware.com/topics/viewt/9722/0/outlineedit-3-released
New app, Bike 4/17/2022
I have to admit my reaction was, I wonder how long until Jesse abandons Bike. As I recall he was supposed to be working on a new editor for Folding Text (or was it one of his other projects). My gues...
A change in mindset made me drop a lot of my tools 4/17/2022
This is a very interesting thread. Thanks, Dellu, for getting it started with your thoughtful posting about your experience. Your ideas about note taking fit somewhat with my thinking. I've always be...
Voidtools Everything 4/14/2022
Bill, I definitely bow to your greater technical experience (written without an ounce of sarcasm), and no need to apologize for an engaging ramble! Steve MadaboutDana wrote: Hey @Steve, I entirely ...
Voidtools Everything 4/13/2022
Bill, I am glad to have you interpreting 22111's savagely long posts. All technology, as it advances, takes users away from the nuts and bolts. People used to tune their own cars. A long time ago, y...
Voidtools Everything 4/11/2022
I am not a tech specialist, but having a foot in both Windows and Mac environments, I agree entirely with Bill. I hate Windows (which I probably would not, if I didn't have the Mac experience to compa...
Agenda 4/6/2022
Bill, Thanks for the reference to Lattics. Very interesting looking app. While I get your objection to Agenda, to my mind Lattics is a very different animal. I want to use Agenda for managing project...
Agenda 4/5/2022
Agenda has just gotten a major update. You can see a video about these updates here: https://youtu.be/mb1F9k0HUb4 - bi-directional linking - slash commands (actually back slash) - auto completion I...
Supernotes 3/29/2022
Still wondering if anyone has experience with Supernotes. They recently issued version 2, which seems to me to be a much improved version. Steve Z
A frustrated user's thoughts on efficient task management for Apple users (and others) 3/28/2022
I think it may be time to repossess your CRIMP secret decoder ring. Franz Grieser wrote: For heaven's sake. Do we/you really think another app is the solution >for Bill's woes?
A frustrated user's thoughts on efficient task management for Apple users (and others) 3/28/2022
Hi, Bill, You might want to take a look at Legend, if you have not already. It feels to me like it provides a "plain text" document approach, but with the advantage that you can set up multiple views...
alternative to Evernote for recipes 3/25/2022
I might try OneNote. It has a pretty good Evernote import process. Steve
My Medium article about Legend 3/4/2022
Thank you for the clarification. I've looked at the Document overview many times, but I haven't thought to unfold the headings to navigate through my outlines. I will be interested in hearing what Bil...
My Medium article about Legend 3/4/2022
Hi, Jay, It doubles my appreciation for any app when I suggest useful features and find they already exist. Yes, that default view feature is what I was asking about. However, I don't even see a ha...
My Medium article about Legend 3/4/2022
Hi, Jay, I just read the comments by Bill, which I agree with... except that I think videos are always helpful in two ways: 1. Showing how an app works 2. Demonstrating use cases that can help peopl...
Scrintal 2/27/2022
BTW, I meant to add to my comment about Scrintal that one of the things that makes me a bit more enthusiastic about this app is that they promise to make the notes you curate be exportable to usable f...
