Come back, Paul Korm - we need you!
5/8/2017
Mein lieber Paul, komm sofort zurück! Ohne dich macht's sehr viel weniger Spaß!
Und niemand hat deine Kommentare übelgenommen - wirklich!
Beste Grüße,
Bill
Quite agree about Curiota - I use it for saving web pages (as PDFs), plus all sorts of little jottings.
I also use Unclutter for taking quick notes and as a clipboard extender (does that very nicely)...
I think the issue here is the term "outliner". What exactly do you mean by "outliner"?
For example, I suspect I'm right in thinking that you don't regard two-pane (notebook-style) outliners as valid ...
MagicalPad probably belongs on there, too, although development seems to have ground to a halt
Like yourself, this was one of my first go-to apps for Windows. Amazing!
Ah well. Macs have most (but not all) of this functionality built-in.
Dynalist iOS beta

Really quite impressive. And another nice addition to the increasingly crowded Mac outliner space!
Microsoft Buys Wunderlist
4/22/2017
Dunno so much - Microsoft To Do appears to be a severely emasculated version of Wunderlist. The closest thing to Wunderlist now in existence is WeDo, which is so similar as to be a WunderClone. Althou...
Outlinely lowers iOS subscription price
4/20/2017
Yes, because of Outlinely's complex folding abilities, its actual file format is XML, so it's definitely not directly compatible with Markdown etc. However, it does export Markdown, as Paul says.
Outlinely lowers iOS subscription price
4/19/2017
I'm delighted to hear it. Outlinely has become one of my go-to info organisers (along with Bear and Ulysses). I keep trying to give MWeb and TextNut a chance (both nearly as good, but not quite as ref...
Musing on the Mac...
4/11/2017
True, Chrome OS is pretty cool. But as you say, the side-by-side PowerPoint/Keynote trick is a no-go (at least for the time being). And what would I do without my massive DEVONthink databases? Well, t...
Musing on the Mac...
4/11/2017
Ha, yes, I entirely agree about your development points - I remain totally unable to see (and I'm not even a developer!) why the App Store shouldn't enable upgrades. One-off payments are nice, but sca...
Musing on the Mac...
4/10/2017
I've just finished translating a very large presentation in Keynote, over 110 slides, full of graphics, videos etc.
At a certain stage in the process, this involved putting the German original up alo...
Devonthink To Go or Bookends on Tap
4/9/2017
I note that Bookends is compatible with DEVONthink in any case, so if the various cunning synchronisation ploys described on the Sonny Software website don't work for you, you might find you can integ...
Omni Outliner 5 is set to launch
4/7/2017
There was a nice simple switch in the Beta version, but I suspect it isn't there in the final release.
Cheers,
Bill

Just acquired the Essentials version, which is cheap and pleasant.
Very basic compared to e.g. Outlinely, but then you're only paying 10 dollars/pounds/other currency of your choice, and not a subsc...
New mind-mapping app
4/6/2017
True, Paul, but on the other hand, you have now (very slightly) advanced the cause of CRIMPing, than which what is more valuable?
Pizza or CRIMPing? I know which I'd choose...
Now, should I go for ...
New mind-mapping app
4/5/2017
Hm, just discovered an intriguing version of Xmind for macOS and iOS: Lighten (lighten.xmind.net).
Apart from some apparent hiccups on the Mac, it looks like a nice - if fairly basic - piece of softw...
Devonthink To Go or Bookends on Tap

I'd agree with Paul on this. DTTG is your (highly flexible) friend.
Thanks, Chris. You're a Magic Bunny with Enormous Furry Ears!
Cheers,
Bill
Those nostalgic for Idealist might want to check out Qercus, which is still under development:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/qercus/
Ah, as many of us have lamented before, would that good old Blackwell Idealist were still available... now that really was the ultimate information manager...
We actually ran our business on it for s...
Kanbanier
3/6/2017
Absolutely agree about Curio, but there's no way it's ever going to make it over to iOS.
And Kanbanier, while "closed", is still in development and works very well between Mac and iOS devices.

Nope, this:

Kanbanier

I've just started experimenting with a macOS / iOS app combo called Kanbanier, which is a rather nice interpretation of the kanban concept. It uses iCloud to sync between platforms, and this works pre...
Omni Outliner Essentials

Nothing beats Bear for search, however - everything beautifully highlighted, both in the results summary and in the note itself. Lovely!
