Muse 3 has just been launched: it includes some exciting new features 10/3/2023
Only downside, the text boxes don't support rich text or markdown. You could argue, so what? But I'm a bit disappointed. However, overall it's very nice to use.
Heptabase - Crimp cured? 10/3/2023
It is a one-person operation, but Taylor Hadden is very amiable and responds quickly to feedback, queries etc. It's very much a passion project, i.e. he eats his own dog food! I'm enjoying using Tang...

It's got search! Bravo! This looks pretty darn interesting, actually, especially the support for collaboration. Dang. I'm investigating...
TheBrain releases its first beta of TheBrain 14 9/22/2023
The inclusion of AI in everything is definitely thought-provoking. Especially as generative AI is such an astonishingly fast-moving technology. Two articles are worth reading: First, Seth Godin's v...

Love the look of Tangent – thanks for the recommendation! Dormouse wrote: I find Tangent has the features I need for notes and doesn't intrude on >my thinking or writing. Simple and quite ...
Muse- An end, and a beginning 9/14/2023
Oh, okay. Well, I'll take another look... Thanks Steve steveylang wrote: I think it was just added for Muse 3.0?
Muse- An end, and a beginning 9/12/2023
What I hate about it is the total lack of search function. I mean, really?!?
A long overdue update for Outline 9/6/2023
It does seem a little counter-intuitive – I was a bit surprised at the price. On the other hand, maybe they're hoping enough people resent having to/actively don't wish to use Microsoft app...
A guide to Obsidian for people who like Outliners 9/5/2023
Hi @Amontillado – yes, I've just seen it and am intrigued. At first, I couldn't get much of a handle on the true value of Properties, but The Sweet Setup has a rather useful article on it h...
A long overdue update for Outline 9/4/2023
Ah, bad news there, I'm afraid: Keep It is now subscription – in fact, two subscriptions, because you need a separate one for the Mobile version. Growly Notes is still free as a bird, fort...
A long overdue update for Outline 9/4/2023
Well, this is amusing. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... there was once a OneNote clone called Outline, available for macOS and iOS. And after the removal of (quite a few) bugs, syncing ...
Sanderson style outlining in Curio 8/21/2023
That's why Scapple is the way it is – no complex layering, just a series of easily adjusted relationships ;-) On the Bike front: of course you can create a very complex series of Bike outl...
Bike Outliner: Adds Row Types 8/11/2023
Great to hear – thanks, Jesse. Ah, so that's what "outlining mode" means! I confess I was slightly baffled by this, even after searching through Bike's online help. Now that is a really us...
Bike Outliner: Adds Row Types 8/10/2023
I agree, tagging would be the icing on the cake. Of course you can insert tags and then search for them – Bike's search function is excellent – but it's not the same thing as fil...

Thanks for the tip, Franz!
Anytype.io 7/25/2023
Yeah, the name is a bit odd. Wasn't there some kind of font utility called AnyType back in the day? Maybe there still is? Lucine wrote: >Also, not sure why they call the items "objects" when they rea...

Ah yes, I've remembered what I was wittering about earlier. Lotus Agenda wasn't the app I was thinking of, as it happens – I was thinking of Lotus Organizer, originally developed by a small UK-b...
Recommendations on the "new" generation of outliners? 7/24/2023
I have to say many of the plugins are spectacular. For example, you can easily build sophisticated calculations into Obsidian (using tables or code blocks). You can use columns. You have a wide variet...
Recommendations on the "new" generation of outliners? 7/24/2023
Re: Obsidian – I've just realised you can indeed embed blocks by putting an exclamation mark in front of the block ID. I must try it!
Recommendations on the "new" generation of outliners? 7/24/2023
Hm, yes, nice description of the main differences between LogSeq and Obsidian, but slightly outdated. Obsidian uses a hybrid markdown mode nowadays, so you don't have to switch to preview (although yo...

Heh, that's amusing. I made my Lotus Notes comment before reading the interesting YCombinator thread – and the very first post mentions Lotus Notes. Well, there are a few people who remembe...
Anytype.io 7/24/2023
Oh dear, the Lotus Agenda thing again. I can't believe people are still "accusing" developers of ripping off Agenda. It's an ancient program, pretty good in its own way, but with very limited resembla...
Recommendations on the "new" generation of outliners? 7/21/2023
I think the choice between LogSeq and Obsidian is very much down to your preferred way of working. Personally, I've found Obsidian's base version much more intuitive, and only gradually added plugins ...
Anytype.io 7/21/2023
Ah, and in fact they have a rather useful roadmap on their home page. Team wikis and shareable docs are planned for Q3 2023, while community hubs, public blogs and collaborative projects are planned f...
