One of the best note-taking alternatives launched recently (for the Mac) is TaskCard 2.0, which is seriously powerful. Alas, no iOS client yet, but a very impressive piece of software.

Yep, it is, especially for what's on offer. I've kindly downloaded it, so I could evaluate it and tell you all about it. And it's disappointing. The "rich text" is based on Apple's own text components...

I did use Qercus for a while, but didn't find the scripting side quite as intuitive as Idealist. But it was a valiant attempt at something very similar. Sadly seems to be languishing.

Well, I'm glad to report that it works well with El Capitan! Seems pretty stable, from the little bit of tyre-kicking I've done so far.

That's actually quite cool.

Ah, usual issues of iCloud synchronisation. Folders don't appear to transfer well between devices. But the Evernote synchronisation is as good as ever, so this would be my preferred option.
