Taking another look at Ulysses
5/18/2014
Of the dozens of machines I've owned, I now have the two best computers I've ever owned -- in one box:
My MacBook Air 2012 with a 500GB SSD. This one is running Windows 8.1 under Parallels.
Perhaps the issue isn't that you are now working in a less structured environment -- but just that the environment is different and you haven't learned all the cues yet? When I transitioned from 25 y...
Taking another look at Ulysses

Steve Zeoli recently posted his thoughts on using Ulysses III for spark notes (http://welcometosherwood.wordpress.com/2014/04/09/further-ruminations-on-the-spark-file/).
I have Ulysses in the Dock an...

Please tell more about what you using for a "tag cloud" "on the screen" -- I know of a few Mac apps that will do something like this, but none that do it well

I like Christian's project -- it is very ambitious, but is already demonstrating its value. Thank you for your work, Christian!
I mentioned somewhere (perhaps here, but I cannot find it) that the z...
I would also add "MacJournal" and "NoteBooks", "Leap" and "Yep", and "VooDoo Pad" -- all of which support various flavors of the metadata you mention.
"Journler" is now open source -- I wonder if any...
On the Mac, should be "DEVONthink" and "DEVONnote" -- but not "DEVONagent". "DEVONagent" is a complex web search tool, and so it can display meta data insofar as the found page source contains it, b...
This is very useful, thank you Jim.
It appears, from the URL created by File > View in Reader, that there are other possibilities here. The front-end of the URL is

SlipBox for OS X is nice ... but there have been no updates since OS X 10.5 (about 4 or 5 years ago). It might be abandonware.

If this scanner does what the videos claim, it would be amazing for research.

The introductory post is well written. Looking forward, also, to the rest.
I think Tinderbox should be on the list -- and will mention it to the author.

OneNote for Mac on the horizon...
3/25/2014
Interesting that in a bit more than a week, OneNote has picked up 1,175 ratings (as of now) in the Mac AppStore. Of these, 54% are five stars. Pent-up demand? So-so acceptance?
If This Then That (IFTTT.com) has added a channel for OneNote.

Agree -- MacJournal is an excellent value. Not as pretty as DayOne, but richer. Dan Schimpf, the developer, is always responsive and helpful.

This is good news -- thanks for the tip. My OneNote library grows steadily.
