Well, personally, I don't know Mr. Brice. I just buy his software for a fraction of what it's worth and exploit the crud out of it for personal gain. :-)
@22111 - If I may be bold, please continue to...
Great tool, and L&L's policy is to offer either free upgrades across major versions or upgrades at good discounts, no matter how old a license is.
The company is very friendly to the yet-to-be-discov...
Obsidian with Web Apps
2/21/2023
I have Devonthink's server edition and tried to paste the DT web address in an Obsidian canvas.
My guess is Obsidian didn't like my self-signed cert. When I have more time I'll try setting DT up for ...
Devonthink will do this, although you have to take steps to preserve manual sort order.
Create a smart group (filter, sort of). Tell it to search in the group (folder) you're interested in for things...
Thank you. I feel much better already.
Well, you may be painting with an overly broad brush.
Writer's software doesn't write, with the exception of ChatGPT. An outline can crush the life out of a story, but when that happens to me it's no...
Easy Data Transform is one of those tools that keeps finding ways to save time. Andy's latest video presents ideas for how to analyze server log files with Easy Data Transform, something that had not ...
Tinderbox would almost certainly have a way to do this.
You could also create Markdown documents with YAML front matter, defining attributes matching your needs. I would do that with probably a five ...
Nice to hear Writing Outliner is in continuing development. It's a powerful addition to Word.

Other OS's? Mac, by any chance?
Outlining and cloned entries

I've often thought it would be nice to be able to have an outline entry appear in more than one place in an outline.
For instance, a flashback to an event already covered in the narrative.
I didn't ...

It's expensive, but Flying Logic is designed for what-if and decision tree modeling. You might take a look at it.
Scrivener isn't so bad, nor is it hard to use. The best way to learn it is to explore the features you need, ignoring the rest until future needs arise.
It's not for everyone, which is just like ever...
Yep, me too - I use PWSafe for things that aren't a good fit for KeyChain, like software keys. There are web sites I've found that can confuse Safari's auto-fill. The manual approach with PWSafe is a ...
One of the things that's kept me on LastPass for Windows is the auto-type function, which is reasonably flexible. I use it for filling out some standard web access forms that go beyond username and pa...
Hmmm... I have fallen off the Scrivener bandwagon with great regret. Fine product, wonderful vendor, but I'm an odd duck. The "no style" paradigm for default text bugs me, and the compile process is t...
KeePass is a good local-file solution under Windows and possibly Mac's.
Linux, not so much. KeePass under Linux uses a library that (stupidly!) logs the contents of the clipboard on auto-clear. If yo...
I stand corrected on one point. I thought LastPass didn't encrypt usernames.
I remain negatively enthusiastic about LastPass. It's OK. I tend to be out of step.
Could be time to switch from LastPass and update passwords! :-)
Seriously, if any are still using LastPass, please consider all your passwords compromised from their recent breaches.

Tana?

Very interesting. I don't see how supertags and metadata work, but it looks very flexible. I can also see how it reminds one of Tinderbox.
Since Tana is SaaS (Software as a Service), I doubt I will b...

About $95 for Swift To-Do, Tree Notes, Mind Collected, and Fast Paste. These utilities are Windows-only.

Hyper Plan is an undiscovered gem. I use it as an early warning system for bills on monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles. When I pay a bill, I don't change its status to paid or anything like checkin...
New app, Bike
12/21/2022
I bought Bike as an outliner. I wish it had tag filtering, but I also like what MadaboutDana observed. Bike is more like an enhanced text editor that will support outlines.
Regarding tag filtering, b...
