RightNote 4.6

The "future expired" web page is a redirect from myorderbox dot com. I've never heard of myorderbox. No idea if they are a threat or not.
The expiration date is pretty odd. One would think in this da...
Hmmm - not sure what happened to my last post. Hopefully this isn't a duplicate.
I decided to buy Sheetplanner.
I don't see much I can do with OmniOutliner that I can't do with Sheetplanner, using ...

I think he meant, "...or start a topic above the current entry..."
He's probably entering his dotage. I say we sho...
I remain intrigued by Sheetplanner. It's quick and handy for entering tasks.
Thinking about uses, it might be good for logging. Enter a task with predicted duration (or zero duration). When you chec...
One thing I've found limiting with OmniFocus is everything goes in out database. I like to have separate task/to-do lists. For instance, if I'm working on a technical document, it's nice to have a sep...

I could live without OmniOutliner. Curio has been a real delight to use in recent weeks, but outlining can be done a lot of different ways. The columns in OO are nice, but I end up not using them much...
Devontthink/Curio/Nisus tip
1/20/2020
I think Devonthink and Curio are both fine tools and I'm glad I have both.
Nisus suits my tastes for word processing, but there's a minor problem with Nisus and either Devonthink or Curio.
Both DT a...
Hierarchical tags
1/5/2020
The recent post about Zettlekasten may provide some food for thought.
If you can search for tags with wildcards, like "recipe.*" it sounds like your solution would work. Even if you can't, the additi...
Zettelkasten is a neat concept. One drawback in my newest fascination, Curio, is that it doesn't support hierarchical tags.
If you can impose a hierarchy on tags, they become an alternate organizatio...
2019 reflection question

I do most of my crimping vicariously, and wish this site were more active.
New products are good to hear about, because looking at a new answer to an old question helps find better ways to work, even...
2019 reflection question
1/2/2020
I'm happier with my writing environment than I've ever been, I think.
Devonthink handles my large document libraries. I've got one that's about 8500 documents in a hundred or so groups with about 400...
Thanks, Paul - I was trying to drag within the Organizer.
I appreciate your help!

How does that work, Paul? When I drag one Organizer entry onto another, it moves it as a child of the idea space I dragged it on.
That sounds like an interesting feature.

You are spot on. Tools don't do the work, anyway, the craftsman does.
Numbers is not unlike Curio, actually. For a corkboard, just delete any tables and use text boxes. For my use, the model of a bla...
Ditto this. Curio is not really that complex, once you get into it. It's more flexible than complex. You can think of it as Microsoft One Note on steroids, and you're not far off from what it is.

Wow - note the time stamps on my last post and this one. In that interim, I sent email to Zengobi with observations about Curio _and_ got a nice reply back from George.
The product is great, features...
Good to know, Paul.
So far, I find myself thinking that Curio is what One Note should have been. It's more flexible, all the figure types, etc., it's just good stuff.
It's got some quirks. I wouldn'...
Very generous of you, Matthew.
The first clue that Curio is awesome is Zengobi writes product documentation in Curio. That old saw about eating your own dog food is true. If you have to use the tools...
Interesting - 20 minutes ago as I drove to lunch I was thinking that if one object could link to another, I'd probably have to grab a copy. Otherwise, I am truthfully happy and productive with tools l...
Curio looks very nice indeed, and may be superior to the mish-mash currently serving my needs. There is a non-existent mind map feature I sure would like to get, though.
I call it "views."
Imagine a...
Portable local file links in Macos

Aha! My username is different on the laptop, so the path to my home directory is the inconsistency. I see a symlink in my future.
Thanks!
Portable local file links in Macos
11/25/2019
One of the reasons I've enjoyed Devonthink for even small projects is that I can use tags and file links. When DT syncs to another Mac, all the links still work, which is not typical of links in a Min...
I get a lot of good out of Devonthink for large libraries of PDF files and notes. Curio sure looks nice, though.
If I understand correctly, it doesn't have to store projects in the cloud. Cloud stora...
