For those who might be interested, Rael announced the release of version 4.6 yesterday.

Probably it is just me that likes responsive, and light (in RAM and CPU cycles) software.
In such a respect with Windows OS, I noticed in opening RN with its default manual in a hidle situation:
RN v. 3.5 and 4.0x —> 50—60Mb of RAM
RN v. 4.5 and up —> 110—120Mb of RAM

I know that this is the common pattern for almost any software (think at Adobe!). I just don’t share the vision, above all when there is no a convincing proportionality between more RAM vs. more features.

This is one reason why I have stayed with TreePad Business for so long. Light on resources, may not be as pretty yet gets the job done.
Currently with a 2GB file open only using 10.5 mb of ram.

Programmer here (maybe of a future possible medicine end all CRIMPing).

I doubt that this memory increase is anyway feelable for computers and it’s still much less then electron based apps with their 300MB+ size have. Even on a phone it might be alright at the moment with 2GB the absolute minimum.

For me performance is important and UX and i recently (last week) tried RightNote and have to say, i just don’t get myself to use such an outdated GUI anymore. It flickers while resizing and moving from one note to another. And if you have a 4K Monitor,  you really don’t want to use this old windows XP style icon bars anymore.

I don’t mind if a program needs a little bit more RAM as long as it is responsive.
And RightNote is responsive. And it doesn’t flicker here.
Maybe, Lothar, it’s your hardware?
I like those “older” icons much more than this “modern” rubbish styled ones.
Don’t need this smartphone toy feeling at my desktop.
