outliner software wanted: single outline with arbitrary lines marked as nodes for an overview 9/3/2016
Welcome to the forum, Thomas. I'm sorry I missed approving your first post. I'm replying here to bump your post back to the top.
The Perils of CRIMPing 7/10/2015
I took the liberty of adding a link to the CRIMP definition topic in the left side bar and on the home page. Still not overly obvious, but maybe that will help some new users in the future. Chris
ConnectedText with mobile support? (Windows/iOS/Web) 4/20/2015
It's not an actual client, but accessing the Trunk Notes wiki via WiFi sharing in the web browser does allow searching, browsing, editing, etc. The sync between the wiki and Dropbox from an iOS device...
ConnectedText with mobile support? (Windows/iOS/Web) 4/15/2015
And when I say "access," I also mean for editing, not just viewing.
ConnectedText with mobile support? (Windows/iOS/Web) 4/15/2015
Check out Trunk Notes. It's a native wiki for iOS that syncs its Markdown files to Dropbox and also has a clever way to access the wiki via a web browser on a PC (or Mac).
Forum Archive 3/19/2015
Hi, and welcome to the forum. I have been only updating the text forum archive occasionally (just updated it again). Since there is still interest in it, I will set up a scheduled job to update it. T...
Overcoming Overload? 3/12/2015
I read something about military pilots experiencing "task saturation" in the cockpit - too many things competing for their attention at once. They overcome this by following checklists. Of course, de...
Organizing lots of thought snippets 1/26/2015
I agree that a single outline hierarchy can become unwieldy. However, I still prefer Workflowy for this because of the power of filtering the outline at a granular level. If I have multiple lists of t...
askSam, EN, fundamentals 1/26/2015
I took the liberty of editing the topic title. I agree that it's not worth the time trying to maintain rational discussion with certain members. Need to bubble up working on that feature to "mute us...

how best to save web pages 6/9/2014
Another useful Chrome extension for copying stuff from web pages: http://template-extension.org/ This allows a lot of customization, allows you to copy the selected text in Markdown, etc.
Scheduling, planning and follow-through. Some questions 5/18/2014
I'm starting to like to use checklists that are reviewed at different frequencies. For instance, I have morning, afternoon, evening, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly checklists. Other lists are trig...

Yet another Ecco question 4/22/2014
Actually, eccoext does allow you to apply a highlight - sort of. Choose an item, right click and choose "Background color." The only caveat is that it applies to an entire item, not just selected text...
Yet another Ecco question 4/19/2014
Hi Ken, You can download the Ecco Extension for free from the Yahoo group jimspoon mentioned. No need to pay anything for either the main program or the extension. I'm running Ecco + eccoext on 64-b...
rightnote on bits for $29.97, 50% off 3/6/2014
22111, I edited your post to remove the profanity and the personal attacks. If you can't refrain from those things, I'll have to ban you from the forum. Thanks, Chris

Markdown vs WSYWYG 9/11/2013
I tested in UR, and I do see what you mean - if you have a hoisted section of the outline, whatever you expand or collapse in the hoisted section is always replicated in the main, full tree. I agree t...

Markdown vs WSYWYG 9/5/2013
See http://www.connectedtext.com/screenshots.php - check out the "Outliner" image. It might be more accurate to say ConnectedText *includes* an outliner rather than ConnectedText *is* an outliner. O...
Ultrarecall - Help!!! 8/2/2013
Actually, Ecco had pretty good synchronization in the 90s (both network-based in real time and for a single user via file export/import), although its approach to it seems a little dated now and cumbe...
