Off topic: Good, inexpensive database 10/1/2009
Ultra Recall? It seems pretty easy to set up structured data in UR, with the added benefit of allowing additional supporting freeform information (web pages, PDF files, etc.) as children of structured...
Enhanced full-text search in new Ultra Recall 4.1 beta 9/1/2009
Relevant portions clipped from email from Kinook: SQLite now provides a full-text search capability which efficiently stores and indexes the text in the database, and the beta build of UR leverages t...

Its a small world, Alexander! 6/2/2009
I was blown away by this. I think the fact that it will be open source and extensible gives it a good chance of succeeding. My favorite part was the ability to split a message and spin off a sub-conv...
SQLNotes aka InfoQube or IQ forum 6/2/2009
This is a forum about software. Please keep it that way. I have never had to use my moderator status in the three years this site has been running, and I'd like to keep it that way. I won't tolerate a...

OneNote Canvas 2/27/2009
I don't use OneNote personally, but this looks interesting for those who do: http://www.officelabs.com/projects/canvasforonenote/Pages/default.aspx Only works on Vista. Chris
Task Management Interfaces: Outlines, "Contexts", Tags, and Areas 1/23/2009
I haven't used it in a while, so I could be imagining this, but I think ListPro allows flattening the hierarchy. I don't know how sorting then affects the hierarchy, though. Chris
Poretable Application Combinations 11/14/2008
I think the "Eccoext" program allows for running the latest Ecco 4 off a USB drive. I remember people talking about it on the Ecco Yahoo group (the newer ecco_pro group, I believe). I've never tried i...
Mac OS X - like file manager and/or ADM-like outliner 9/6/2008
I notice UltraExplorer also has the same flattened folder view as Directory Opus.
Mac OS X - like file manager and/or ADM-like outliner 9/6/2008
Charles, I tried out UltraExplorer, and its column view is indeed what Alex was asking about. Pretty cool, especially since it's free. Makes a good addition to the arsenal even if it doesn't become m...
Mac OS X - like file manager and/or ADM-like outliner 9/5/2008
Not exactly the same thing, but Directory Opus has a "flat view" which lets you view the contents of a folder and all its subfolders as if it were a single folder. Chris

Watership Planner 6/21/2008
Here is a new one that hasn't been mentioned on our forum before: http://www.watership-planner.com/ I haven't tried it yet, but it looks potentially interesting as a task manager. I found out about ...
Task managers - what should they be able to do? 4/7/2008
Indeed, it was an extra > within the URL. I've fixed the previous two posts in case someone stumbles across them first. Thanks, Chris

Outliner question 1/4/2008
Hi serenity, welcome to the forum. Have you tried Ultra Recall? Based on your requirements, I'd say it would meet your needs quite well. http://www.ultrarecall.com

The Five Applications Most Used in 2007 1/3/2008
Top 5, based solely on usage: Firefox - almost not even an app for me, more like an operating system; if I am at the computer it is running. Of course, core browser functionality isn't all that inter...

Best software for emergent order 10/14/2007
I think folder tree operations in Zoot can be seen as weak, seen from the point of view of simple interface interaction. However, the tree hierarchy itself is not really where emerging structure revea...
