So, what do you folks do?

We're all on this forum because we share a passion for outlining and PIM software but I'm curious, what kind of work does everyone here do that requires this software?
Myself, among other things, I'...
I've been informed that there is now a YouTube channel for Ecco Pro with old school training videos and whatnot.

DevonThink alternative?

So am I to take that there is no DevonThink alternative for Windows? Or just no cross-platform alternative?

I'm curious, is it really worth the money compared to free web clipping programs like Zotero or Evernote?
Or OneNote, considering that, while not free, I already got Office for Word and Excel and th...
Public Beta phase begins for Zoot 6.0

Not sure I like the GTD focus of this version.
Maybe I'm just letting the icons confuse me, but creating a new folder just seems to be a task list...but then when I create a new column, it also does...
Zoot does this. Creeps me out when I forget I have it running

Woah, an actual single-pane outliner for Windows. Crazy.
But...where's the hoist feature?
Though, seriously, that's awesome. Thanks man

It suddenly occurs to me, would this just be the kind of functionality found in the WordPress "Related Posts" plug-in?
And then I'm left to wonder, has anyone tried using WordPress as a notes databa...
Google Wave as a PIM?

And would Alexander care to share with the rest of us? :)
Should add, much as I like to think I'm not swayed by a pretty package, I have to admit, I downloaded Xmind recent to try it and took me five minutes to decide to uninstall Freemind.
I think between Mac OSX, Vista/Win 7 and Office 2007, our expectations of how something should look have dramatically increased in the last few years, so a lot of folks like all their apps to look pre...

James Fallows on The Personal Brain

It almost seems like you guys are disappointed that it isn't an all-in-one solution. To me, it seems to be a really nice addition to other tools but in no way a replacement for anything.

Thanks for pointing to this. It's certainly more interesting than the penis measuring contest going on over UltraRecall.
I may have to give The Brain another shot. Downloaded about a year ago and di...

Along with dates, it lists the topics in a separate cell and a longer description in another.
