What seems too good rarely brings pleasant surprises 7/12/2022
Cf. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/what-s-the-difference-between-microsoft-365-and-office-2021-ed447ebf-6060-46f9-9e90-a239bd27eb96
What seems too good rarely brings pleasant surprises 7/12/2022
As far as I can tell, this is real but misleading. It's a "lifetime license" for the 2021 version of Microsoft Office. It does *not* appear to cover subsequent version upgrades. So "lifetime license" ...

Outlining and exporting opml files 6/19/2022
Both Dynalist and Workflowy have solid iOS apps that sync to web apps, and you can export OPML from the web apps. Another option would be Zavala, but I haven't used it.
Napkin 6/13/2022
I was not able to try the beta without paying. Perhaps the policy has been updated since your sign-up?
New Yorker Article: Can "Distraction-Free" Devices Change the way we write? 6/9/2022
Thanks for his. Yes, a fun read. I'm more of a structured person, hence outlining, but there is much in the article that I can relate to. It does strike me that the young author might not quite real...
infoqube update 4/28/2022
InfoQube has become an extraordinarily powerful tool. As has often been commented recently, we are living in a seeming golden age of information management software and so-called "tools for thought"....
Heptabase 2/21/2022
Just to be clear, the $7/month figure is the early bird pricing when you pay for a whole year. With monthly payments, it's $10/month, which is slated to become $12/month without the early bird discoun...
Digital Garden publishing 2/20/2022
Makes sense. Other offerings I'm aware of that offer live updating are NotePlan and Amplenote. (Notabase is working on a publish feature, but it's not available yet.)
Digital Garden publishing 2/19/2022
Not sure what all of your criteria are, but Obsidian's offering would be an obvious contender if you're willing to pay for it: https://obsidian.md/publish Speaking of which, this response from an Ob...
ThinkingTools, softwares which helps in ThinkingProcess 1/15/2022
Interesting. For what it's worth, now that I had my onboarding session, I'd like to retract my earlier critical comment about Heptabase. I was highly impressed both by the developer and the software. ...
Diagram software with notes attached to each space? 12/19/2021
A quick google search turns up this option: https://lucidchart.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/206027123-How-do-I-add-notes-to-shapes- Does that correspond to what you had in mind?

ThinkingTools, softwares which helps in ThinkingProcess 12/9/2021
Yes, I've personally been keeping an eye on Heptabase. I definitely look forward to trying it out! Last I checked, the only way to try it was to set up an onboarding call, and the next opening was mon...
Brainstorming tools 12/8/2021
Brainstorming can of course mean different things to different people, and different software approaches also work for different people. I have not explored the area of software that directly ask qu...
Taskade 11/16/2021
My personal feeling is that, in order to qualify as a legitimate contribution to this forum, a post from a developer who is promoting their own software should go beyond merely copying and pasting mar...
Top 5 Roam Alternatives 10/16/2021
For a web-based alternative, I would suggest Notabase.io, which was only just launched. No mobile app yet. And here are some other alternatives: - Hypernotes comes pretty close. It has many of Roam's...
Browser-only outliner / note-taker 10/13/2021
Good idea. Just note that the dev is saying Github support will be phased out once Logseq has its own sync service ready.
Reflect - a Roam Research knockoff with a few nice features 10/13/2021
I agree with comments above, but I recommend, in such situations, using https://privacy.com/ (which has a free tier) to create disposable temporary credit cards. Using that approach, I went ahead and ...
Sense Editor 10/13/2021
Thanks very much for this update! I originally introduced Sense Editor to this group back in 2010, and I'm delighted that it's still being developed. I actually do some freelance work on carbon taxat...
Browser-only outliner / note-taker 10/9/2021
Given that you're using NeoVim with Markdown files, I did the following search: https://alternativeto.net/software/obsidian/?feature=markdown-support&platform=online&p=2 This searches for Obsidian a...
Notabase.io (similar to Roam) 10/5/2021
Yet another Roam-inspired app. Looks well-designed, and it has a left-hand panel that allows for note hierarchy: https://notabase.io/ (Meanwhile, much as I love LogSeq, Obsidian, and the Markdown et...
Comake has something interesting with KnowledgeOS 9/5/2021
Definitely looks interesting. Thanks for posting. However, I consider the requirement of a 15-minute onboarding call to be essentially equivalent to requiring money upfront (given the opportunity cost...
How do you deal with Privacy? 8/29/2021
I share the privacy concern. Especially in terms of the possibility of major hacking events. I tend to assume that Dropbox, with its encryption and two-factor authentication, is pretty safe, but I don...
