Outliner for nonfiction book 10/28/2018
The Sense Editor is the most intriguing product I've seen in a long time. I'm reluctant to get into it because I'm not sure I can ever buy it. (My credit card now doesn't work internationally. When di...
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/28/2018
Franz, I think I may see what you're saying re installation problems with Inspiration 9.24. It seems not to install in the start menu! That means that you can't find it by typing Insp... I reinstall...
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/28/2018
I haven't found any provision for a distinction between headings and text. Did I miss it? Pierre Paul Landry wrote: Stephen R. Diamond wrote: >> Thanks, but I should have stated I need a Windows prog...
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/27/2018
I had no problems installing Inspiration 9 yesterday. (Windows 10 Home system.) I'm trying to figure out why nobody has agreed with my first impression that Inspiration 9 is (sadly) the best choice, ...
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/27/2018
I wouldn't have expected UV Outliner as a contender, which it is now.
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/27/2018
Thanks, but I should have stated I need a Windows program.
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/27/2018
I'll definitely check it out. As to levels, the Word outline mode is basically for organizing headings, and it's hard to imagine needing nine heading levels. Six may indeed be the limit.
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/27/2018
Word has an OK outliner, but I want more than the 9 levels Word affords.
Outliner for nonfiction book 10/27/2018
Strange to be looking for something so basic, but it's still hard to find an excellent one-pane outliner with deep levels. It seems Inspiration 9 is the only real alternative for book-length writing...
Idea Shuffler 4/12/2017
Idea Shuffler actually finds the *simplest* representation of a concept map. That's what the shuffle command is for, although the user can opt to stop the shuffle (or go back to) a point that's less s...
Demise of NoteMap 4/12/2017
I don't think this has been noted here: (Lexis-Nexis) Notemap is no longer offered or supported. Discontinued in 2015. (If they don't want to sell or support it, why not at least release NoteMap into...
Idea Shuffler 4/12/2017
From the developer's description: "The “Idea Shuffler” is a unique diagramming tool that lets you represent both hierarchical and non-hierarchical structures. It automatically organizes yo...
RightNote version 4 4/11/2017
"MyInfo for scholarly books and articles (I find its clones and attribute columns especially helpful in organizing complex material)" I wonder if you've compared MyInfo to Scrivener for that purpose?...
InfoRapid - revisited 6/11/2016
Is this program rather like The Brain?
OneNote for Windows - restrictions removed 2/16/2015
They're being incredibly stingy with their "free" version: They still don't allow it to open new notebooks except on OneDrive.
Are we, outliners fans, just a bunch of outlined mind maniacs? 6/8/2013
To avoid a false unanimity, I'll admit I loved outlining in school. Locating propositions in a hierarchy produced a sublime thrill comparable to ... diagramming sentences. Of course, doing it on a com...
Are we, outliners fans, just a bunch of outlined mind maniacs? 6/7/2013
The current psychological jargon for right- and left-hemisphere is far- and near-mode. I've concluded that the important factor determining which mode outlining uses is whether the hierarchy is built ...
Generous offer for task manager - "Goal Enforcer" 4/22/2011
Speaking of task managers, one that I use for task planning is _Goal Enforcer. What I think most recommends it is that, in my opinion it has a high Power/Complexity ratio. You might describe it as a m...
What a good Outliner should have 3/12/2010
I should add: ADM didn't install at all. The error messages appeared in succession.
What a good Outliner should have 3/12/2010
Even I'm missing ADM. I have a license for version 3; I redownloaded and tried to install, and got a raft of error messages, including the almost forgotten "access violation" that contributed to my pr...

Public Beta phase begins for Zoot 6.0 1/14/2010
So, the outlining functionality in Zoot 6--where is it applied and how do you access it?
Inspiration 9 has been released 1/13/2010
Not "the outline," as there are two: the diagram view and the map view have separate outline views. Particularly disappointing, the outline view associated with the map view does not have the "focus i...
ActionOutline at 'bitsdujour' 1/9/2010
Has anyone used Action Outline much? Is it an elegant, minimalist 2-pane outliner, sort of a two-pane Windows Opal; OR is it a dumbed-down, least-common-denominator 2-paner?
