How do you like MyMind? It seems relatively expensive, especially if you want the Reader, but I also find it intriguing like Bublup.
Roam Research Status?
3/18/2024
I used Roam quite a bit in its earlier days, but have gotten away from in in favor of Obsidian and Logseq. But Roam's display of linked items is so appealing (especially compared with Obsidian , which...

No worries, thanks. I don't think there's any noteworthy problem with the RSS feed -- I get it fine on Inoreader, but for some reason Readwise doesn't pick it up after the initial load. I'm hoping an ...

Sorry to intrude on the main topics list, but my efforts to use the contact form are getting bounced. I'm trying to find out if it's possible to subscribe via email. The link for that on the main page...
Heptabase - Crimp cured?
10/3/2023
Thanks. My question was based on this: https://www.tangentnotes.com/About. I do use and support some one-developer programs, but I'm trying to be more cognizant of that aspect before I spend a lot of ...
Heptabase - Crimp cured?

Is Tangent a 1-peson operation?
I have used The Brain on and off for years, and think it's a very impressive program. Unfortunately, the web version currently does not display the backlinks and mentions for an item. They are visible...
Heptabase - Crimp cured?
9/14/2023
I used it right from the beginning, and I found it better as a writing helper than at knowledge management -- my principal use. To be fair, I haven't used it recently, as I have been using Obsidian an...
Heptabase - Crimp cured?
9/14/2023
I signed on with Heptabase and am more or less abandoning Scrintal. I'm just starting out, but while there's much to like, there are some features that are kludgy or nonexistent as far as I can tell. ...
Evernote system limits
7/5/2023
I like UpNote quite a bit, but the absence of a Web version is problematic for those who can't install apps on their work computers. For me, that's the continuing appeal of Evernote.

Both have seemed to undergo significant recent changes. I have been using Scrintal and find it useful, despite some early stumbles and odd omissions. Heptabase seems very comparable, and now that it h...
Tana?
1/19/2023
FWIW, one aspect of Tana that appeals to me is how insights into, and evolution of, my supertags/attributes emerge from continued work with the program. The abundant tags and backlinks that I use in o...
Tana?

Anyone who has used Tinderbox will feel right at home. And similar to Tinderbox, it does have a learning curve.
So far for me the most intriguing feature is its embrace of a "Supertag" feature that ...
In a video on Scrintal's website, the founder said that he would give refunds within a week of purchase. I bit, and while it's early and rough, I am intrigued. It's visual nature is helping me on a pr...
Napkin

Is it similar in nature to Mem? I don't use Mem consistently, but I have found it very helpful when I want to jot something down and easily find it later.
Clover looks interesting
7/15/2021
Steve,
Have you started using it from scratch, or have you cobbled together a way to get existing notes from another app?
Clover looks interesting

It does look good, but until it enable importing from Roam and/or Obsidian, I can't see giving it too much of a workout.
UpNote continues to improve

FWIW, I emailed the developer to say that a portable version would be useful, and he responded right away to say that a portable version is planned.
InfoQube Outliner Announcement
4/29/2020
If I understand correctly, there's no need to migrate data to InfoQube Outliner; both it and InfoQube IM can read and access the same databases. Maybe we can use the same database under both programs....
Notion.io is my new favorite
8/18/2019
The Notion T&Cs also begin by stating that your data is yours. I think that the license verbiage quoted refers to information that is put into the general Workspace section. After that language was sh...
Tinderbox 8 is released
4/14/2019
I was one of those who was a very basic user of Tinderbox, but whose pride in being able to figure out a couple of valuable uses outweighed (probably irrationally) the sinkhole of time it took to do s...
Nimbus Notes Redux
4/6/2019
The Windows desktop version allows exporting to JSON and HTML, under the file menu. I'm not savvy enough to know if that's adequate. I seem to recall that my past efforts to import via JSON were messy...
The future of OneNote
4/20/2018
I hate to be unduly cynical, but I think that the only stable providers of this kind of software are those who either (1) charge enough for it (e.g., Evernote), or (2) can monetize it by targeting add...
