Ah, thanks for posting the Brave comparison – excellent. What fun! I shall have to install Brave’s Android browser too, and see how that all works out in practice (Opera has also recently strengthened its privacy protection, incidentally).
Clearly something of a competition.

I have DDG installed but have used Brave as my main desktop and iPad browser for several years, largely because it’s Google Chrome with Google’s tracking code ripped out of it, and has that built-in ad blocker in addition to other privacy features. Because it’s a Chromium browser you can also use Chrome plugins.
According to Cloudflare the marketshare for the top browsers are: Chrome (63%), Safari (17%), Edge (7%), Firefox (4%), Opera (1.5%), Brave (1%). The DDG bwowser is at 0.26%, and without randomized fingerprint tech built in it becomes relatively trivial to track users. Brave and Firefox have anti-fingerprinting code built into it which lie to sites about browser config, DDG and Opera do not, and DDG does not have a plugin/extension architecture.
Brave helps support itself with support for crypto, and has an opt-in Brave Rewards system using its Basic Attention Token (BAT) scheme to pay people to view limited, approved ads (the types of which users can customize). It can be an annoyance to new users but it’s easy to turn it all off in settings so it never bothers me. (And the value of the BAT is virtually nothing and is currently at the price when it was introduced in 2017. More crypto madness.)
