The developer makes it clear that this is a side project for him:

“My name is Richard and I’m primarily a freelance web developer. Notebag is my current side project. I do all the coding, marketing, design and everything else. If you want to have a chat, reach out to me on Twitter”

Nothing wrong with that! Though it’s wise to be cautious…
