Peter,

Have a look at the Maxqda2 tool.
It is developed for text and content analysis.

To get the value from this application I suggest to work through the tutorial and the manual.

I do not use Maxqda2 because it is too expensive for me. But I think it is a very powerful text analysis and retrieval tool.

When I have to categorize notes I am using ADM. ADM allows to copy or write long text just in the topic. You can use the Metadata system and Keywords to categorize texts manually.
