I’d agree the calendar/task functions are important, and that if you don’t need it, you don’t have to use it.

Often information doesn’t just sit there; we are working with it over time, and so it is helpful to be able to plan our next actions/appointments, etc. in the program where the information is being processed. For a lawyer, writer, consultant, etc., next steps and appointments are vital information that provide the path into the future in such a way that goals are met.
