Laurence,

I do read Ted’s columns, but I’m interested in comparisons by Windows users, former or present. Could you make any comparisons between Omni and outliners many of us know, say NoteMap?

In a column, Ted described NoteMap as a competent basic outliner. Omni’s web site isn’t very revealing about the feature set, which Ted covered, and how its features are implemented remains pretty obscure to someone who hasn’t use it. Leaving aside columns and any spreadsheet or database-like features, how does OmniOutliner compare to NoteMap for organizing and (most of all) reorganizing a document? Are they similar in the way they implement key “higher outlining” commands such as hoist, mark, gather, and force left and right (notwithstanding my ambivalence about those commands)?
