Stephen, for a good discussion of both Circus Ponies Notebook and Aquaminds NoteTaker, go here:

One thing that’s not explored in too much depth is the support in both programs for a MacOS X feature called “clipping services.”  Basically, you can assign names to various outlines/notebooks, e.g. “research”, “personal” and then the operating system automatically inserts menu options into *every* running program that let you copy text/graphics directly into those specific notebooks.  For instance, you can be in a web browser, and send information to your “research” notebook using a single menu item, even if Notebook or NoteTaker is not running.  It just happens transparently behind the scenes; you don’t have to switch over to Notebook/NoteTaker and lose your train of thought.  Clipping services are a lot like Ecco’s “Shooter” or Zoot’s “Zooter” or ADM’s floating folder widget, but they’re consistently supported at the operating system level.  This is one of MacOS X’s killer features, in my opinion.
