Capacities has gone to desktop!

Their development is furious! and considerate of user feedback.
still in beta,
but seems to go head-to-head with tana and obsidian capabilities now in many ways.

All comparisons welcome!

I’ve started off 2023 diving into Capacities. So far I’ve been impressed. It isn’t necessarily that it has functions other apps don’t… with so many apps, it is hard to find one that is really different. But I find that how it works fits with my way of thinking. Like most note-taking apps these days, it relies on daily notes as a home base each day. It is easy to create and apply a template to the daily notes (or any note for that matter).

Some of the features I appreciate:

1. It is easy to forward emails into my work spaces. They show up as toggle-headed notes in the daily note.
2. I can export my pages as Word docs, which is a rare feature in my experience. Also Markdown, HTML and Latex are supported exporting formats.
3. It feels as if there is a nice separation of Daily Notes from other pages.
4. There is a nice selection of elements that I can insert into my pages.

I am still learning the app, so there may be pitfalls I haven’t stumbled over yet. Also, as with all these types of apps, the rubber hits the road when I have a lot of notes in there. How easy will it be to surface notes I need? But as the Magic Eight-Ball says: “Outlook Good.”

I don’t see much of Tana in Capacities, other than in some portions of the workspace Capacities mimics Tana.  Not that mimicking Tana’s look and feel is a good thing, since Tana is so minimalist   .  I see much more of Craft’s UI in Capacities.
