Standard Notes Free Trial Concern

I download a copy of Standard Notes for a “free trial”. However, it’s clear that anything resembling a free trail requires me to make an up front payment with the understanding that if I am not satisfied, I can get my money refunded. All, except the most basic, features are behind a paywall. I have never seen such a free trial before. I have seen some free trials where there may be a paywall for a few advanced features, but not for everything except writing a basic note, and switching from a dark to light background.

So, I am curious to know what experience people here have had with Standard Notes, and how well the product is supported.

I used to be a paying customer of Standard Notes. My reason for using it was the emphasis on privacy. Until an buggy update locked me out of my account, leaving me with the only option of creating a new one and uploading the backup to it ( luckily, i did have one ), as suggested by the developer who acknowledged the bug and apologized for it. But it kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth.
After that, i decided to to use the free plan only, which is enough for what i wanted, a sort of journaling app with end to end encryption and tagging. For anything more sophisticated that that, i already have plenty of apps that do the job ( Obsidian, Curio, Tinderbox, etc..)

Their Black Friday offering prices the top-tier Pro plan for the same $59 as the mid-tier Productivity tier (normally $99). The Pro tier has nice features (share subscription with up to 4 other accounts, 100Gb encrypted storage, no file size limits).

Apparently last year they stopped offering their $150 5-year plan.
