That’s my target use for the new synced text. Notes that are relevant in multiple places in a story plan.

How do you find synced instances more useful than a link back to the original file ?

You see and can work on any instance in the sheet you’re currently using, so you don’t have to flip back and forth.

So far, I’ve used file-backed and synced text almost interchangeably. The difference is whether the source for a cloned instance of a note is inside Curio or in a separate text file. Either way, the operative thing in usage is multiple instances of a note.
In a file-backed text instance, the master copy is the file in Curio’s Library. Synced text always has a master. If you delete the original instance of a text note, nothing bad happens to the remaining clones except they will no longer sync. You get a warning message if you’re deleting the master copy of synced text.
As much as I liked the idea of Curio as front-end for Devonthink, I’m starting to drift away. If a link breaks to a file embedded in a Mac package directory, you can’t manually fix the link like you can to normal “exposed” files.
I’m starting to think Obsidian, which I’ve shamefully never used, might be a better idea repo for Curio than DT. I say that with a tone of lamentation. I’m very fond of Devonthink.
