I just stumbled across a new notes app called Tangent, still early days but I really like it:

The interface is nice and clean IMO, and the navigation features work really well (backlinks, map view, sliding panels, folder content preview). It works on local files, and performance is very good (much faster than LogSeq for example.)

It is pretty easy to point at any folder on your computer (which becomes a ‘workspace’, including subfolders.) I’ve pointed it at my Obsidian vault and it has worked fine.

Right now, major lacking features include searching within notes, folding/outlining, and tags. As I said still early days (the alpha was first available only 2 months ago), but if you are already using one of the other Markdown apps that stores plain MD files it’s easy to take this for a spin.

There is a roadmap:

Thanks for the pointer.  Looks very interesting to me.
