This is my first post, but I’ve read the forum for a long time. It’s a pleasure to read the conversations and the civilized way they develop. Congratulations to everyone!

My question is if someone knows of a note taking app where you are able to tag using drag and drop and, at the same time, uses markdown files. For example, Bear can do it, but it’s notes are not in the folder structure of the system. iWriter is almost there, but you have to write the tag in the file. I would like to be able select multiple files and drop them in the tag. I used a long time ago Jourlner, and it was amazing. I can do it in Devonthink, but it isn’t a note app.

Any ideas?

Hi robertom, welcome!

That’s an interesting question that you ask. I know of a few applications that can tag via drag and drop, but they don’t use markdown as their primary format: Zotero, ConnectedText, Notejoy, and Nimbus Note. Perhaps Joplin does it, but since I don’t use Joplin I cannot check it.

Maybe FSNotes would work?

FSNotes is really nice, but no tagging with drag and drop.

Joplin has it, I can write in Markdown, but is a database app.

One of the nice things with markdown is to have your files in the file system and be able to edit a quick note with iA Writer, a long note with Multimarkdown, or have it in an Obsidian vault or indexed in Devonthink, and synced by iCloud in iOS and Mac. It just works and it’s fun.

Yes, FSNotes is a fantastic, well-supported, constantly updated text-only notes app with deep tag integration
