To those being misled,

As proven once again, never admits errors, just evades & changes subject. PROOF yet again of not proper interaction.

As to latest misleading comment, the 2018 law (yes not as falsely depicted as 2021 Feb draft & pretended never said it) applies to:

ANY Vietnam Based Company Having anything to do with internet and online data: have to transfer ALL online data to the well known Vietnam intel commission, for as long as they want it for.
+ As i said research, linked articles and more.
+ Use free governmental cyber security services for your org.

Also there is no way in this app to check the users’ nationality (passport scan etc) to see if the user is Vietnamese or foreign, which is the latest misinfo that continues to encourage people to upload their sensitive academic/business & governmental data to them.

No excuses, sp. for gov org people here, except an online anon’s reassurances to do so.
Consult experts sp. ifyou are within gov orgs, please.

Hope this clarifies the latest misinfo even if it was true:
The app does not distinguish between Vietnamese & foreign users.
All the data is subject to 2018 law.

QED.

LOL.

As if the people here cannot read for themselves.

So, thanks to washere and satis for taking their time to discuss this issue regarding Vietnamese data laws. I don’t think I’m risking much personally even in worst case scenario, but it is good to see a discussion about this even if the participants in the discussion completely disagree.

On a side note, UpNote just added tag support a couple of days ago. It seems pretty well-implemented (I’m not a heavy tag user though.) You can see a list of tags in the sidebar, the info panel shows a list of tags for that note, and finally the tags themselves are also clickable within notes. You can also rename and delete tags from the sidebar, and the changes will be populated to all notes.

The only feature I am still waiting for is ability to collapse text (which is supposed to be coming.)

It’s a good start, but I’m not sure how far they intend to take tags. Some apps, like Bear I believe, allow nested tags, which can be much more useful for searching, especially when your database of docs becomes quite large.

Two things I like about Apple Notes are the ability to search via aTags Browser, and the integration of Smart Folders (aka saved searches).

In my Windows 10 app, I don’t see any possibility to insert tags, I can’t see a list of tags in the sidebar, the info panel doesn’t show a list of tags for that note, and finally the tags themselves aren’t clickable within notes. You can’t also rename and delete tags from the sidebar, hence the changes will not be populated to all notes.
