Having started to trial Craft, it really is smooth and elegant. Using it is a pleasant experience and really shows how basic Obsidian really is.
How is Craft with security? Is data also local, is it encrypted, what access does Craft have to your content, can it be used for personal and sensitive information?

It is hard to believe but I am CRIMPing once again. I have been from NotePlan to Notion back to NotePlan and now to Craft in a matter of a few years. 'I doubt anyone on this site could relate to that.'
After reading the posts about Craft on this site, I downloaded and tried it out. Beautiful design that just feels right, but I had moved from Notion to NotePlan because I wanted a Journal tied to a calendar (plus folding text). Then I got the email saying they had added a daily journal tied to a calendar.
I think they once again did a great job on the design of the daily journal. Craft has always seemed like a somewhat scaled version on Notion, but more elegantly laid out and much faster. I had no real problems with NotePlan, but so far the execution of Craft is a step above most of what I have used in the past.
Besides the daily journal, what got me really excited about Craft was their toggles. I had a lot of difficulty using toggles in Notion. They were extremely slow to load, and I had lost data copying them from day to day. Also, when copying toggles it would only copy what was expanded, not the collapsed pages.
Craft toggles are very useful and user-friendly. I am already incorporating them more than I did in Notion, and they easily replace the folding text feature of NotePlan.
Craft had a nice import feature that imported all of my notes from NotePlan including images! The hard part was placing all of the daily journal entries in the respective calendar days in Craft.
The biggest issue I had with importing was that larger pages did not get completely imported, and hand copying a large file into a note has a limit, but it does not inform you of that. Large files also seem a little slow.
But so far I am extremely pleased with Craft for note taking and daily journaling. This usually happens during the honeymoon period and may change in the future, but so far I am very pleased with the program.

No, quite right, I can’t relate to that… ;-)
Nice description of Craft’s strengths (and weaknesses). The pace of development remains very impressive, especially for an app that does so much.

The Craft toggles are done really well!! I would love to see the same implementation in UpNote...

Can I just check exactly what you mean by “toggles”? Do you mean the ability to toggle e.g. page headers, hero graphics etc. on/off? Or do you mean the ability to embed folding outlines in a Craft page (definitely one of the big next steps for UpNote!)? Or something else?
Cheers!

I was talking about their "outline" capabilities. They are not anywhere near a true outliner, but are much better than Notion's, and have worked very well for me so far.
I stopped using them in Notion because of slow download speeds and data loss, but now I am implementing them a lot in Craft.

I think it would be nice for PIM/outliner apps with a calendar feature to provide a list of notes (automatic links) that were edited/created for each day on the calendar.
A well-done daily notes feature is great for what it is, but usually I'm working within notes dedicated to specific subjects or projects. Just have a list of automatically generated links at the bottom of each daily note.

Having said all that about transclusion, I’ve also been
experimenting with Craft’s internal links. And they are also very
impressive.
Craft recently made it very easy to link directly to specific
“blocks” (= paragraphs) in different documents simply by
selecting a word and then choosing the “markdown link”
option from the pop-up menu – this will produce an instant search
box with the relevant word highlighted in (a) this document, (b) other
pages and (c) blocks. Or you can spontaneously create a new document
from the link. The mini-preview that appears as you hover over each link
makes it immensely easy to decide exactly what to link.
This offers a very easy way to link a Daily Note to any other note in
your repository. I’ve not seen such an efficient mechanism in any
other notetaking app (although Roam and Obsidian have similar concepts,
the Craft execution is just mind-bogglingly elegant and clear
– in fact, “elegant and clear” pretty much
defines their philosophy).
Again, profoundly impressive…
Cheers,
Bill
