Tips from Anylist Users?

I saw a recent recommendation for Anylist in another thread and was wondering if there were any tips, suggestions or concerns from any members who are using it or have recently tried it.  I really didn’t need another program, but was looking for something I could easily share grocery shopping lists with my wife.  She liked Trello when we used it last year to help plan a trip, but I cannot adopt it as I would like for online grocery shopping (due to COVID).  Any wisdom about the app would be greatly appreciated as their help files are a bit limited.

Thanks,

Been using AnyList for 2 years now and happy with it.  After I start a subscription I go into Google Play and cancel it, that way it doesn’t auto renew a year later but you still have paid for and use the paid sub for the year. It doesn’t refund your money or anything that way. They send you notices when the sub is going to expire so you can just do it again like I mentioned.

I hate subscriptions and stay away from them with a passion.

That being said AnyList is the only subscription I use.  At around $10 a year for single or around $14 (I think) a year for family it’s well worth it if you shop at different stores or share lists.

I have a few other paid for Pro shopping apps but none do what AnyList does.

-Instant Syncing,
-I can use it with Amazon Alexa without having to say app command first so it’s really easy and convenient.
-Can set different Categories like Aisles per store and have many stores in it.
-Really easy to use once you get used to how it sets up Categories per store.  If you don’t use the “Per Store” or different stores, it’s even easier.
-Fully functioning Web app also, so you can do everything with lists on the computer or on your device.
-It has Meal and Recipe functions that are supposed to be pretty good but I can’t comment on them since I don’t use it for that, yet.

For shared lists, I’ve been using either Google Keep or SimpleNote, both free and easy to use with others.

I’ve been a happy subscriber of AnyList for many years. It a clever about identifying shopping items and placing them in the correct aisle. The sync is rock solid.

We have created and added recipes which link to shopping lists. Then we use it to cook against the recipes as well.

It’s a great app!

Thank you for the above comments.

The new subscription is non-renewable, and I am fine with that as I pay once for the year and then get a reminder if I want to renew next year.

I use Simplenote for keeping track of bits of data, but I do not believe that it will work for shopping the way I want to organize our lists.  We have certain stores that carry certain items, and I want a program that will allow me to keep those items available and select them when they are needed.

I probably will not use the meal planning or recipe functions just yet as I want to get the basics down first.  And I am glad the sync function works as intended.
