Offline Database/Task Manager with Local File Links?

Thanks so much, some great suggestions there — looking forward to working through them! I should’ve mentioned I’m on Windows, so can’t do Omnifocus. Out of interest, has anyone tried Priority Matrix (which bills itself as a Windows alternative to Omnifocus)? Looks promising.

Ultra Recall, mentioned earlier in this thread, is a Windows (only) app that allows you to link to any external document. Links to external documents are created by assigning an URL attribute to an item. An Ultra Recall URL attribute can point to a file or location on your system as well as an Internet address.
