I use CintaNotes daily for several purposes, but I continue to wonder about its limitations. In particular, I occasionally want to attach documents or images to the notes, and I was unsure whether that might create a slow, bloated file.

So this morning I tried a little experiment. I created a small test note (37 words including the title) with an attached PDF file of 1764 KB (or to put it in more concrete terms, the PDF contained seven pages). I then made 1943 duplicates of that note and inserted them all in the same notebook. Since CintaNotes reduces the size of attachments dramatically, the total size of the notebook was now 3640 KB.

I can report that there was no obvious slowdown in performance. Searches, for example, were instantaneous, and I saw no changes in the time it took to make various kinds of modifications to individual notes.

This suggests to me again that CintaNotes is an exceptionally well-designed program and that once more I have probably underestimated its capabilities. Has anyone here tried any similar experiments?

EXCELLENT experiment, and I appreciate your taking the time to report the results.

Fascinating that it managed to compress PDF files to that extent – that’s really very efficient.
