If it’s more of a dump and search kind of thing, Evernote is still very good. It has its quirks and the company has an almost Apple-like tendency of “knowing it better” than the customer, but there’s no similar application out there that performs at the same level.

But I think TheBrain is a nicer place to collect such disparate information. The informal and open link structure (jump link, parent, child) combined with tags, types, search, and saved searched/report makes for a very strong program that can both be “just” a collection point as well as help realize emergent connections and insights.

TheBrain has been around for a long time and has a price point that keeps the company in business. I like that; that gives me the trust this company and its software will be around a long time to go still.
