If you have Treepad (hjt) files, you can still open them with Keynote outliner which is Free and open-source.
Can also import txt, rtf, Treepad, html and export as those formats too.

There are actually a whole lot of apps which can convert hjt files, since TreePad was the great-granddaddy of two-pane outliners. The problem—at least my (consistent) problem—is that TreePad’s native format is .tpd and converting to hjt—from within TreePad or with a 3rd-party app—completely screws up complex formatting while also struggling with very large files.
That’s why TreePad’s viewer is a thing (or was, when FreeByte was still alive.)
