I find the software Tag Everything to be a good solution for managing files across multiple folders for current projects etc…it wont capture email messages but it will help with files in multiple folders without having to use windows explorer to go through everything…

I’ve currently installed the trial and am trying it out….

On SECOND THOUGHTS - TRY BEFORE YOU BUY

It’s crashing every time I attempt to tag any file!

I have emailed support…let’s see what happens.

And I’m sorry for the protective responses as the software works when run before editing tags. I was attempting to use the tag function without the software running in the background which was causing it to crash windows explorer.

If people have looked at this, but were turned off by the registration problems, the Web site says that they have now been fixed.

Q, have you tested it further?  If so, what are the results?

P.S.  In case anyone here does not have software to control what programs start when you boot, may I suggest you Google “Mike Lin” to find his Web site.  Among his free programs are two that will help.  One warns you when a program tries to insert itself into “startup,” so you can block it.  The second shows you the programs in the startup folder and registry startup areas so you can block programs that are already in statup.
