Perhaps my thread starter here gives more cluses about UltraRecall. http://www.kinook.com/Forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3848 The administrators final reply to a pressing question is noticeably ‘lame’ with no definition or committment. Suggests that rhumors might be true.

The fact that development of UR has come to a standstill shouldn’t necessarily deter you from using it, as long as it has the features that you want. UR is a pretty mature product, as many on this forum have already attested. What would make me cautious is the way they treated Jan. That seems absurd, and really unprofessional.

As to letting a product come to rest at a certain point in development, that seems reasonable to me, as long as I was certain that the developer was going to stay in business and was ready to offer service… including the correction of any bugs that may crop up. Included in this area of “service” is also the promise of making the application workable in the next operating system update, whenever that may be.

1. Richard’s last posting is MISSING.

2. Steve Z is right, IF the info one is collecting is for short-term use.  But, if not, then, I believe, my earlier posting on the need for batch export or the
use of something that permits standard file formats applies.

I agree. Fortunately, you have nothing to fear in this regard from UR; it has excellent batch export facilities (so-called recursive export).

That said, I have began to be rather uncomfortable myself by Kinook’s vaguespeak. Sometimes, it’s better to stand back and just leave the product speak for itself.

I frankly think the answer kinook provided is dishonest, not just lame, and I’m now 2 for 2, counting ADM. ;)

I presented my disillusionment with kinook in the third post in this thread: http://www.outlinersoftware.com/topics/viewt/276
