Thank you Korm and MadAboutDana for the clarification on this and Prion for the great suggestion on how to change it. Time to update my usage a bit.

I use @ for “context” (place, people, etc.) and # for tags, even if the application does not support, or does not make a distinction between @ and #-prefixed metadata.  So, even in handwritten notes, I’ll use #make_doc to indicate “this is an action requirement to write a document”.  Makes it easier to scan and find what I want.


The standard approach to @ vs. # is very much as described by Paul; @ indicates people, places, while # indicates actions.
