I had no trouble purchasing Write. When you do, they tell you that in a year you will need to pay $5.00 annually for the sync service and maintenance upgrades. But the first year that fee is included in the purchase.

I’ve installed it on my work Windows PC and on my MacBook and the sync works well. You can also save documents locally, so it shouldn’t be an issue to use Dropbox to work on the same documents.

As far as I’ve been able to tell, there is no way to work on your documents through a browser. You can only choose to share them like this:

That’s right. I was mistaken about the web app (I hadn’t tried it).

Thanks Steve and Franz for confirming. These days I work a lot on my Chromebooks, so a web app would have been my preferred way of using this. Oh, well…

That’s interesting.  I received a message telling me that I received a lifetime license for sync.  They must be doing some A/B testing on their pricing.

... and Write have just contacted me offering a fairly generous discount for a lifetime licence. So I’ve gone and bought one.

The code to apply is JANVAL (or JANVALUE). In my case, JANVAL was applied automatically and appeared to work (albeit with a fascinating minor discrepancy between the euro amount and the pounds sterling amount).

Cheers!
Bill
