Someone lamented the transformation of the original InfoSelect, which I believe was called “Lightning,” into its present 2-pane form.  Originally, it was a desktop sticky notes program. (A competing PIM was called “Memory Mate.”

If interested in what appears to be a very nice sticky note program, go to:

Cassius,

I evaluated TurboNote back in March; I compared it to Stickies.  I prefer Stickies along with its add-on, the Stickies Store.  Stickies can be found at: http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/

I believe I erred in stating that the original name of InfoSelect was “Lightning.”  It probably was “Tornado Notes.”

The original DOS version was called Tornado Notes. A later DOS version was called Info Select, and the Windows versions kept that name. It was a well-featured sticky-notes program , even in the DOS version, though limited to ASCII text notes. The DOS Info Select, incidentally, still runs in XP - especially if using Tame (http://www.tamedos.com/) to tweak its settings.

I didn’t even realise that Windows 7 has a built in Sticky Notes app:

Sanjay, the Whizfolders developer has just released a basic utility for organising them:
