What's to like about that kind of software? Sounds more like an art
project...
I work alone and I'm sick COLLABORATION! COLLABORATION! COLLABORATION!

In my opinion, however, the greatest thing about BrainStorm is the
ability to "mark" multiple locations in the outline and then "throw" or
"retrieve" entries to/from those marks - even if the marks aren't
visible.

Well, InfoQube does have the ability to mark items and then do some operations with the marked items - like add them as cloned children of another parent. That's also highly useful, but a little different than "throwing" items to marked locations, I think.
The way you can move items in Dynalist - with a popup search that can find any other item in your account, is sort of similar and actually pretty good. There is still something about the BrainStorm approach that makes restructuring information very fast once you have all the keyboard shortcuts in muscle memory.

Technically it is often called "Hoisting". Whizfolders for example calls it that. Others like Tinderbox Scrivener Getright HyperPlan and some others also allow similar propriety or custom views. They let one create such selective custom views of chosen items/sub-items in new views or outlines or whatever terminology they use. Usually by tags or metadata or other means. Some let you sort by tags metadata by clicking column titles, like scrivener. Can color label too, etc etc. However I prefer multi views of same doc in Outline4D to hoisting. Not many use Outline4D, maybe a few here. I can import into Outline4D output from dozens of softwares of various genres, wasn't easy, needs a specific number of different steps for each though.

Also before committing to any platform for a big project, if hoisting or selective/filtered views are needed, it is best to make sure it contains:

+ Also before committing to any platform for a big project, if hoisting aka selective/custom/filtered views are needed, it might be best to make sure such custom views contain:
+ i) Hierarchy Levels: nodes, sub-nodes levels etc. or at least tags to indicate so
+ ii) Inline Data: i.e. keeps data for nodes/sub-nodes, not just nodes tiles
+ Or at the very least the software's normal (un-hoisted) view contains the above two capabilities, not all outliners have both.
+ For me these two features have to be true for import and export too, often levels hierarchy structure &/or inline data is lost in conversions. Would be useless to me if either is not kept.

else, mailchimp makes you name your list and I named it "Mac notify
list." But I like the idea of an RSS feed.
Speaking of which, do you have an ETA for a Mac version?
Cheers,

No rush for a Mac version - you guys already have loads of great, Mac-only software. Let's get the Windows version at 100% first.

sorry!

Is Indigrid developmentally dead? No update in nearly two years. No progress (it appears) on necessary but missing functions like a proper export. Shame; it had quite a bit of potential.
