Yes, Alexander's right - if you want to get to the really USEFUL settings, you have to dig your way down to an archaic set of control panels that appear to have frozen at Windows XP.

Don't get me wrong: I like Windows 10. What I don't like are Microsoft's methods - forcing you to upgrade willy-nilly (to the extent of actively misleading users), and then having the cheek to advertise via the operating system. Not to mention the vast amount of information they suck out of your system... but it would be hypocritical of me to criticize that and not mention the streams of information that whizz to and from Apple's servers from any standard Mac.

However, on a Mac you do have helpful utilities you can use to observe all the stuff that's going into/out of your system, such as Little Snitch. I'm just using the latter to find out what the privacy-obsessed browser Cliqz is really doing behind the scenes, after Paul's timely warning about giant media conglomerates...

Yes and No. The control panel in Windows 10 has many more items than XP (48 vs 30). Lucas is also correct however in that the Settings app has some items that haven't made it in the Control panel.

In Windows, settings are a 2 headed beast:
1- One consumer / touch oriented with the most common ones, and
2- one business / detailed one for the rest.

I don't know how they could do it any other way, Windows is after all an OS for both consumers and enterprises.
MacOS is "mostly" just consumer (I know, some businesses do run on Mac, but it is marginal). So MacOS can live quite well with a single Settings app

As for auto-upgrade and advertise, I don't know enough to say. All I know is that I'm still on the original Win10 (v1511) and have never seen any ads...

Again, I'm not sure I agree: IBM has over 50,000 users on Macs, which doesn't really qualify as "marginal".

Ken: God Mode also works in Windows 7. It's the same folder name as in Windows 10.
