I was speaking to someone the other day who collects snippets from a software support news group and pastes them into a word file so she can search for them later, including bits of prgramming code.

Now I am aware of many “paid for” tools that would be better for this than word, but can anyone suggest a free program that she should try. Something with a clipboard feature would seem appropriate.

My mind seems a complet blank on this at the moment.

Thanks,

Graham

If this is a newsgroup that can be browsed via the web, she could try the free Scrapbook extension for Firefox:

Yes,  a reasonable suggestion, but I think she is tied to MSIE and some will be mailing lists. And as I wasn’t thinking in terms of a browser based solution I didn’t make it explicit that this will also act as repository for other snippets of information some of which will be typed in.

Graham -

How about NoteBox Disorganizer, the Squirrel Technologies program that was discussed on outliners.com last year (I think). It’s at:

It’s described as “a spreadsheet-style note collection program” - quirky, but/and people seemed to like it.

Derek,

I must admit, that I was thinking more of Treepad Lite or NeoMem, nether of which I could remember the name of when I originally posted. But I was hoping for something with a capture from clipboard option.

Thanks,

Graham
