An interesting app I downloaded some time ago, NoteCard, has been revived as an astonishingly capable Mac app that can handle notes, outlines and lists.

But it also has a really unusual use model: it creates its own virtual desks, called “sheets”, in which you can have as many notes, outlines, lists etc. on “cards” as you like.

The “sheets” can be grouped, and the groups/sheets can be shown or hidden in a kind of drawer that slides in/out from one side of the screen (either left or right).

It supports rich text, and integrates with Apple Calendar for reminders etc.

In short, it’s a really intriguing app. More details at: http://www.thealchemistguild.com/taskcard/

An iOS version is expected shortly. And Robin might be reassured to know that it’s taken the developer about two years to rewrite NoteCard and create this new version. One of his reasons for taking so long, according to his blog, is so that he could optimise the code for both MacOS and iOS.

Thanks for the heads up!  TaskCard looks very interesting. I wish I had a Mac so I could demo it.

In one of the videos I saw on the “View” menu a “Filter” choice, but the video didn’t demonstrate it.  Auggh!  Maybe it’s for the best though, because if its filter function is robust I might have to buy a Mac.  Oh wait, that would be a CRIMP too far…

I used TaskCard for a while and put it aside.  It has several bugs and some odd quirks that are inconsistent with “standard” OS X app behavior.  The biggest is that the red stoplight button deletes cards rather than closes them.  The Print function is not usable—to get hard copy out of TaskCard it seems that we have to export to RTFD and then open that somewhere and print it.  In my opinion there are other apps with similar but more stable features— SpiralBound Pro for example.
