Indexing in OneNote

I have a question for any heavy OneNote users that may be on this list.

In doing quite a few test searches, I notice that it does not pick up many words in my notes, including notes that were created more than a day or two ago. Does anyone else have that problem? Is there a way of resolving it?

I like OneNote very much and would be pleased to shift more material into it (mainly out of Evernote), but I’m very uneasy about these gaps in its indexing.

I use OneNote quite a bit and have never had that problem.

Since OneNote leverages Windows Search, is it possible you have some setting/configuration there that’s causing your problem?

For example:

I re-indexed Windows, and that seems to have solved the problem. Many thanks for the suggestion.

I’m not sure about this, but I think indexing only runs in the background when the computer is idle. If you use the computer a lot or leave it turned off for a while, it could take time for new OneNote entries to be indexed.

Yes, I was aware of that. The slow indexing is probably related to the relatively sluggish syncing in OneNote. My problem was more fundamental, however: the indexing had failed to take effect even in some very old notes. But by doing a reindexing of the Windows search—which took most of the night, incidentally—I was able to break up the logjam.
